Moth for breakfast

When I got back from the pool this morning, I went into the kitchen to get coffee, as usual. Zoey always meets me there and sits on the counter waiting (usually not patiently) for her breakfast. But, today, she was MIA. I could hear here somewhere in the house but not in the kitchen.

Turns out she had found a moth somewhere and after chasing it around forever, finally caught it. And then spent a good 5 minutes getting it into her mouth, dropping it, picking it up, dropping it... etc. She does not have much practice with big game hunting but sure got in her strokes today. And now she's totally sacked out on the ottoman. Hunting and gathering is hard!

I finally got to hear Ezio Pinza's voice this morning. He's a now very regular swim buddy. (He looks just like Ezio so that's how he got his name.) Ezio's voice was nearly terminally sexy. While my Ezio has a lovely voice, it's not close. He was hanging out with a group of us just prior to their opening the gym and as we were walking through on the way to the pool, he caught up with me and said "I always wondered what time I'd have to get here to beat you in." hahaha

The pool was kind of crowded today. One buddy I used to see regularly but haven't seen in months was back. She said her work had a late start for Summer so she didn't have to come in so early but that was over now so she's a regular in my time slot again.

I'm now way overboard on the tracker sitch. I dug out my Misfit Ray last night. I'm now wearing it and the Fitbit. I remember now the things I liked about Misfit that I don't get with Fitbit. What I'd really like to do is toss them into a blender with a few other ingredients and pour out the perfect one. I even looked at Apple watches this morning. (Yes, I do feel dirty.) But, quickly realized there was no possibility there without an iPhone and that sure ain't happenin'.

The house cleaner comes today (yeah! - this place needs some cleaning love) and I'm off to Goodwill. At 11, there will be more futzing with the webcams in the lobby. Hopefully, this will be the end of my part in the setup. Then the baseball game is on at 12:30.

It's cloudy out today and not supposed to get above 75 degrees so the shades are up and the door is open and the a/c is off. Fingers crossed that it lasts.

Alexa, Where is Susan?

I have heard my house cleaner talk to my Echo before. She doesn't understand that she has to preface everything with 'Alexa'. So she starts with Alexa, xxx but then carries on a one sided conversation and is always confused when, after the first time, Alexa never answers again. But, she's never discouraged. And usually she starts with "Alexa, where is Susan?"

Today after she got here and got settled, I went off to Goodwill. I had unloaded my donation and moved over to the parking lot and was just parked when my phone made a sound I had not heard before...

A month or so ago, Amazon added new features to Echo. You can now use it as an intercom and you can also make video phone calls with the Echo Show. I did not bother setting up either of these features since I have no use for either one. But, apparently, no set up is needed!

I turned on the phone and it said that Home was calling so I punched 'answer' and there was Amira's face on my phone with me in a small corner of the screen! And, I was on the screen in the living room. She was shocked and I was too. She said that she had asked Alexa Where is Susan. We got a huge laugh out of the whole thing and as I was trying to figure out how to hang up, I heard her say "Alexa, shame on you!"

I very nearly wet my pants. Sitting in the parking lot of the Goodwill laughing hysterically.

But, I'm impressed that the function is that easy!

My own personal pharmacological conspiracy.

I take one small Pravasatin for cholesterol control. I noticed the other night I had only a few weeks worth left. So I went to Humana Pharmacy and picked it out of the list and asked for a refill. There was a note that there were no more refills so they would call my doctor. They have done this before so I didn't think anything of it.

Yesterday, I got a note that the order had been canceled. Not one tiny clue as to why. Only a love note saying to call them. They, of course, have the most annoying and useless telephone system/service in the world. So I went to MyChart and asked my doctor to call in a new prescription.

This morning I got a note from my doctor's 'Refill Expert' WTF?? that Humana Pharmacy had a viable prescription with 2 refills left and I should call them. Fuck me. So I did. I needed extra blood pressure meds by the time I got a human but, of course, she had no clue why it was cancelled and said she would reorder. I said that reordering was likely not going to fix the problem and she said 'well, I don't know what else to do'.

So, they get one last shot. I placed the reorder. If they cancel, I'm going back to the doctor and tell him to send the prescription to the local pharmacy here. I'll get in the car and go pick the shit up rather that deal with Humana Pharmacy.

I ordered the Pravasatin and a refill of Losartan. They sent the Losartain already. I suspect they will not cancel the Pravasatin until tomorrow.

But, on a much much happier note, a few weeks ago I broke my favorite bowl. It was a one off I'd gotten at Goodwill one time. I loved that bowl. Well, today, I checked and they had FIVE of them!!! I only got two. Didn't want to hog/hoard. But, so happy.

And my house is so clean.
