Saturday

Today's the day that the pool gets taken over at 9 so I got in as fast as I could and swam hard. It helped that at about the 30 minute mark a woman came in to share my lane. She was slower than I was but by just enough for me to remember not to slack off. It was good. There was a different aqua fitness instructor and she, not very kindly, stopped me and told me to get out. So, attitude lady, I will but ONE MORE LAP just to piss you off. Win win, I got another lap and she got annoyed.

Then I stopped into Fred Meyers and picked up a few things and headed home.

I decided to change the sheets on the bed which was almost a disaster. The old, broken remote has been kind of working so I cranked the foot and the head of the bed all the way up to get the fitted sheet on and then the remote died. ACH! No sleeping that way. It took a whole lot of battery fiddling and some fairly severe language but finally I got it flat which is how it will stay until the new remote is in service.

OMG! I just saw on twitter that there's some kind of petting zoo in the park until 3. I am strapping my boots on right now to go investigate.

Several things...

1. I'm revising my assessment of the Pixel 2. The original Pixel had an excellent camera. The Pixel 2's camera is twice as good or better. And easier to use.
2. I need a new case. As I do with all new phones, I buy the cheapest case I can find so that I have something on day 1. Then, I assess and get the real case after I've used it a little while. This case is ok but the buttons are to stiff.


3. I need better boot socks.


4. I need to make sure I do not upload photos automatically when I'm away from wifi. I just, inadvertently, spent $5 in cellphone charges because I forgot to turn off auto upload.


5. I love petting zoos.

This was the cutest little thing with an amazing number and array of animals - a wallaby! - a chicken, a rooster, a pig, a duck, a turkey, a rabbit... it was wild and so cute. It was also cold and rainy so no crowds which made it way funner. Lots more than just these pix on the click.

Inconsequentials

Last night I had a very vivid dream in which I lost my Costco card. I emptied out my wallet looking for it. My wallet had all kinds of shit in it. It was my real life wallet but I keep my real life wallet with the bare minimum contents and this thing had all kinds of old coupons and crap in it. In the dream, I finally remembered that my Costco card is in the car where I keep it in real life.

The dream was so real that it was freaky and all day I keep revisiting it for some reason that makes no sense.

I used my air fryer tonight for the first time in a really long time. I cooked breaded chicken and french fries in it. The chicken would have been as good or better in a regular oven. The french fries, however, were excellent.

I love french fries. But maybe not enough to justify the counter space that the air fryer takes up. I think ljtourist said, last time I mused about getting rid of it, that he wouldn't mind taking it off my hands. It is likely I will not see or talk to him much before next January so... hmmmm I think I'll find room for it out in the terrace cupboards and get my counter space back.

I did not buy enough yarn for the crochet sweater. I realized it last weekend and ordered 3 more skeins which should be enough but they aren't here yet. I'm about to start my last skein. I think there may be a sweater interuptus while we wait for the shipment.
