For the past four years, I've been swimming in pools treated with bromine instead of chlorine. It's supposed to be more gentle to your body but it really drys out your mouth and makes the pool very hard to keep clear and clean. My new pool is chlorine - it's not very strong at all. It has only the barest of chlorine smells even at pool side. My mouth is way happier. And my skin seems ok with it so far.

But, my hair is rapidly bleaching out. It's really funny. Several times this past weekend as I pass a mirror, I've done a double take. It's a very painless way to go blonde, that's for sure.

I'm still crunching room arrangements to accommodate the serger. I think I need to get rid of a hall tree/bench/shoeshelf, I think. It's ugly and not useful enough to justify its size. It's cheaply made so I don't really have any qualms about tossing it into the dumpster. I'm just not sure how to get it down there.

Then I can move the dress form into that corner and that will free up some space in the sewing room. Also I need to find that cable trapper to cover up the power cord. I've already almost tripped on it twice. I have a nice little temporary table to put it on. It's a fairly ugly and too heavy TV tray that I've had for years and should have thrown out long ago. Now very glad I didn't. It will work nicely until I can figure out a better arrangement.

So lots to do today in addition to serging.

I need to go get kitty litter and I have a bunch o' books ready for me to pick up at the library - all about serging. I may go get them later or I may save that for tomorrow. Busy busy busy with such important stuff!!

I think I'll quit writing about it and go get dress and get on with the doing.

Serging on

Fun fun fun until the thread ran out... again...

I tested and tested and broke a thread - the hardest one of the 4 to rethread and so learned how to do that and then broke the second most difficult one and learned how to do that. And played some more and made a patchwork table cloth (so learned how to do corners - I didn't quite get them until the 3rd one)...

Then I made an apron with a pocket for my serger so I'd have a place to put scissors, tweezers, the little crank you need to change needles, etc.

My serger thread is on a UPS truck that is, apparently, saving the best delivery for last. I ran out of the starter thread... and the I used a spool of regular and emptied it and then decided that I'd serged enough for one day.

But, fun. I did go to the library and picked up a pile of serger books. They were helpful and fun to go through. I plan do spend some quality time with them in the next day or two.
