In the olden days, the weatherman (who was, back then, always a man) would say there's a hurricane coming sometime maybe. People would buy bread and milk and hunker down. Then maybe it would come and maybe it would not. Sure, they were devastating back then but without so much hubbub.

Now the weather person says on Tuesday, the hurricane will hit land on Saturday at 3:14. And you know it's going to be a killer that milk and bread will not scare off. Or maybe you'll get lucky. But, meanwhile between Tuesday and Saturday, all the forces around you are hell bent on making sure you feel no calm or safety or security or comfort. Ugh. Hurricanes are the worst and I'm 3,000 miles away from even the potential of one.

Here we have cool and cloudy and lovely. We even had rain last night. The a/c is off and the door is open and the cats are fascinated by the street sounds. Just now a dumpster truck is doing its dumpster thing. They can't see it but they can hear it.

The treadmill, turns out, accumulates data. It does not go back to zero. So combines all the miles, all the time, etc. which is kind of funky. I can reset it but why. It's a boost to know I've been walking for an hour instead of just 30 minutes. This morning, it actually did not feel like a chore. It felt good. At least the first five minutes. And, as long as I was there, might as well do the rest!

Today agenda is a mystery. I am pretty sure there will be laundry and some sewing. Maybe the start of a new shirt. But, also, I might leave the house. I might make a dropoff trip to Goodwill. For sure I will take a shower and get dressed.

All I really wanted to do was move the dirty clothes hamper.

After I rearranged the bedroom, now one corner looked really cluttered mainly because now the others do not. I needed to find a new home for the dirty clothes hamper. What about the end of that closet where that shit is? What is that shit anyway?

Oh ok, if I move this and move that, and then move the big plastic bin it was all in, I have room! But what about the bin? Hmmm if I put the stuff stacked in the other closet into the bin. But, wait, that won't fit unless I pull out this other stuff. What is this other stuff anyway?

I emptied a box, I emptied a bag, I tossed some stuff across the room that needs to go into the Goodwill bin.

Now imagine how how much fun the cats had. Now double that and you get close. OMG they nearly lost their minds.

I took a break for lunch and they demanded lunch, too. I suspect they are now off somewhere in a coma from which they will not emerge until dinner.

BUT... my dirty clothes hamper is in the closet and that corner is now very tidy, too. Also I found some dishes I has lost. I looked for them to take to Goodwill. I now have two more Goodwill bags full and that doesn't even count the dishes.

I think I need to make some breakfast muffins. I'm tired for burritos. Time to get tired of breakfast muffins for a while.

I went back to the bedroom to do some treadmilling and discovered that the cats were nonplussed about my moving the dirty clothes hamper. They'd knocked it over anyway. It was empty since I'd just done the laundry.

I pulled back the curtain and reached down to right it. One tug and What?? There was a cat in there. Nope. I looked and there were two cats in there. Napping in the friggin' hamper.

Oh well. I did 10 mins of walking/book listening and now they have decided that nap time is over.

I also made 12 egg muffins and they are in the freezer now.

The baseball game is in an hour.
