There's a new regular swimmer at the pool - well, by regular I mean I've seen her there twice. Anyway, she has a brilliant way to track laps. Pennies! She's clearly timing her laps with her watch but timing and counting at the same time can get tricky. So she has this little canister of pennies and after she finishes a set number of laps, she moves a penny into the canister. When the pennies are gone, she's done. It's so simple and so satisfying.



I think I want a t-shirt that says "I'm a boomer. It's my fault, and I don't care." And, probably, on the back "Get off my lawn." Own it. I say.

The sweater I'm knitting is designed by Alfaknits who turns out to be a very creative woman in Belgium who is also very prolific. Her patterns look interesting but when you delve into the construction, they are fascinating. Not at all like regular knitting patterns. When I found them, I had a hard time deciding which to do first. Today, she put up a 30% off all sale and I went on a shopping spree. I'd kind of lost my knitting mojo there for a while. Found it.

But before any knitting shall be knitted today, there will be sewing. I have the new top nearly done and I want to finish it and tidy up the sewing room so the house cleaner can clean it tomorrow.

The rest of the house is actually pretty much already ready for her. There was a thing I was going to do while she was here - a place/errand. And I cannot for the life of me remember what it was - I have 24 hours.

My phone has a very handy, easy to use, searchable audio note taking app. I need to start using it. Or start remembering shit.

When the sharing stops...

So I got this bag of 25 little silly cat toys from Amazon. I know it would be easier to just distribute them along the baseboards behind the furniture myself but I thought I'd let the cats do it. Biggie has recently taken to finding old cat toys (from the same baseboards I just mentioned) and destroying them. Some cat I had loved those tiny little mice. Biggie found several and subsequently I found mice body parts all over the house.

So I got the bag o' toys. I pulled one mouse out and they went nuts. Biggie grabbed it and tossed it around and then got distracted and went back to what was left o the bird he obliterated a week ago. The Smalls got his turn at the new mouse but the minute Biggie saw that he ran over and stole it!

Here The Smalls has possession and is guarding closely.



Now they are focused on the one I pulled out of the bag for The Smalls. They are currently under the table with it negotiating. I think my $12 was well spent. We've barely tapped the font that is that bag o' toys.

One of my neighbors across the street in the apartment building put an adorable snowman in the window. So cheery!



Sewing and tidying done. Knitting and British murder up next. Retired people life.

Cat Report

The Smalls loves to be in my arms. He sits there and nuzzles my neck and BITES my face. I've tried no. I've tried NO. I've tried putting him down swiftly. I've tried everything. I have some spray stuff that is supposed to repel cats. It does not smell bad at all. It has worked on a few things. I put some on my cheek. We shall see.

I gathered up all the toys and put them into a small cat bed that neither cat uses for anything and put the bed under the table. The Smalls climbed in and has been sitting there watching the world go by for 10 minutes.



Biggie is getting himself a snack.



Now Biggie has moved to the blue chair and The Smalls has settled into the bed-that-nobody-used-before-I-filled-it-with-toys, on top of those toys.
