This is it. The Last Cool Morning. Today, the high is expected to be 63 (16 ish). Starting tomorrow, we leave the 60's behind and it climbs into the 70's and beyond. I will enjoy today. I will.
When I was young, we spent every Summer day at the pool. Every one. The rule then was that you had to stay out of the pool for one hour after you ate. My Mom and everyone else's stuck to this rule religiously. I remember often being really hungry but not willing to give up more than an hour of pool time and what a dilemma that was.
And, turns out, it was just a cruel hoax.
But, yesterday, I ate my regular breakfast before I went to the pool and, honestly, it was just not that comfortable swimming on a full stomach. So, today, I just had toast which is going to be much better. My swim time is 8-9. And it's now 6:30.
Biggie was only a little confused when I gave him a treat and didn't touch his paws. He'll get over it. He seems more like the Biggie of old today. Calm and curious. I'm probably just projecting but I can hope.
The baseball game is at 10 but, honestly, after yesterday's game, I'm only mildly interested in watching. It was a shit show on both sides that went on for freakin' ever. Today had better be better and early on or they will do it without me. Life is too short.
--------------------------------------
Well, for goodness sake. Look who for got to hit "Post".
I'm back from swimming which was really great this morning. The traffic wasn't horrible. The sun is behind the clouds. I could listen to NPR news stress free since Lulu Garcia Nevaro had the week off (she is nails on chalkboard to me). I mean ... goooood day.
I think I'm going to make a quiche and salad and turn the game on.

I am not a huge fan of celery but it's required for tuna salad and I wanted it for something else but I only really needed half a stalk. So my next grocery was Amazon and they had carrot and celery sticks for cheap so that's what I got. They arrived swimming in water and fairly pre-aged. I used one half stalk of celery for whatever it was I wanted.
One of celery's problems is that it stinks up the fridge and goes to rubber in a day. There must be a better way.
Google sent me to YouTube (ugh) but directed me to this guy who said to dry out the celery as much as possible (like with paper towels and then wrap it VERY tightly with tin foil and put it in the fridge.
I just looked it up. I got that already aged celery on June 1. It is now nearly two weeks later. I just pulled out a stalk to chop up for tuna salad, and I swear it is crunchier now than it was two weeks ago! And the fridge does not celery stink.
The dude's name is Jerry James Stone and he knows how to make celery last! (He's not so good on English cukes tho. My way is much better than his - leave plastic on part you don't use and cover it with paper towel and put it in plastic bag. Lasts for a week or more.)
Also, that tuna salad was delicious. I have enough left for a sandwich tomorrow.
Biggie has been sleeping in his tree all afternoon and, since the sun is behind clouds, I've had the blinds up. It's so nice to see him out there just snoozing away. He kind of makes me not hate The Tree That I Hate as much since it makes such a nice background for watching him.
