And, of course, we start with the Biggie Report. He's great. He's been a wonderful sleep companion these past few nights. He gets a little frantic when he first hops up to the bed. He cannot get enough head rubs. If I stop for a half second, the teeth might come out but had has not come close to actually biting like he did before. The threat, however, does keep me rubbing that head!

But, all night, if I change positions, he re-snuggles up. It's really wonderful. And, this morning, like yesterday, when I got up, he just doubled down. I made the bed yesterday and just worked around him. Probably will do the same today!

I have no idea what the State Of The Screen Door pick up is. I haven't heard a peep from Christian. Home Depot is still showing Ready for Pickup. I wouldn't mind getting it done sooner than later but I'm not going to worry about it.

I do want to make a grocery run today. I want more ginger cookies. I tried a new recipe yesterday and I'm not hopeful. You mix all the wet ingredients in a pan on the stove and then add the flour. It makes a VERY wet dough. Then cover and refrigerate overnight. Supposedly, I'm to dole out a bit at a time, roll, cut and bake. If it works, it will be fab because the recipe says it can easily live in the fridge for a month. But, I'm skeptical.

Also I did not have enough molasses. I had to fill in with about 10% corn syrup. So now I need more molasses and more corn syrup. (if today's ginger cookies don't work, I'll toss and go back to my other recipe) And a few other things.

The other todo today is to finance planning. I have 3 gynormous annual bills - one in November (Mariners ticket for next Summer - $6,000*), one in December (condo HOA for next year $8,000) and one in February (property taxes $7,000). I put money into my savings account every month to cover these things but now is the time of year that I really focus to ensure I've not only got them covered but also have a solid plan for next year. Along with a review of my ongoing expenses. Do I still need? Can I trim here or there? So today will be some quality spreadsheet time.

*This year, it will probably be closer to $2,000 because I traded lots of last year's tickets for 2021 credit. So whew. Except Biggie and my new chair already ate up that windfall.

Monday is the day, around here, when government employees - state university football coaches, police, firefighters and a whole host of others either have to show proof of vaccine or be fired. Buh Bye. It might be a bit of chaos but it will settle out. I'm delighted that, at least so far, the city, the state and the nation is not backing off from this. And, thankfully, no unemployment payments to those fired for no vaccination. Boeing employees are now whining about having to quit. Pluuueeeeze. Get the damn shot. Or shut the fuck up. If you live in a community, you have a responsibility to that community. The. End.

Now I think I'll get dressed and make up the bed around the cat.

I was on the way out the door to the store when I got an email that my Home Depot purchases had been picked up. I went down to the garage and waited by Christian's parking spot. Finally I figured he'd gone on to do other errands and came back upstairs to find my door!

He apparently stopped in front and dropped it off (which is what I would have done).

Contrary to what Home Depot Mike and the instructions said, it was NOT easy peasy to get the damn grill on. I broke two drill bits and it's still not on correctly. Tape is holding it for now.

And the door is a very tight fit. Two people could maybe have done it OR one person who knew what they were doing. But I failed. Finally I took the header all the way off and got it in that way but it's a very dicey job.

I can get it open and shut if I'm very careful but it needs that top track. I sent a text to that chatty guy who came last time (ceiling fan, kitchen hinges, etc) to see if he would come back. If I don't hear from him by tomorrow, I'll find someone else.

But, for now it's in and it's fortified. That screen grill is on the inside. I think/hope it's pretty Biggie proof. And it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would.

Fortunately, Biggie did not come out to help until I was done. Whew.

It's now nearly noon and I have lost all desire for the groceries I was going to go get. They will be there tomorrow. I think I'm going to clean up and try cookies.

all fixed

The handyman replied to my text and offered to come this afternoon. Turns out it's his one day off now. He's gotten a full time job. But, no paycheck yet so he was happy to get cash. And I was happy to pay.

He moved the cat tree in from the terrace. I probably could have done it but it would have endangered my windows. He picked it up like it was a 1" tree branch.

Then he got way down on the floor with his screw driver and flipped the screen door's wheels into the right place and BAM! Fixed. I could have gotten him to fix my half assed job of attaching the guard but the tape fix is hidden and working fine. And or added the top wheels back into the door and remounted it but we both stood there and opened and shut the screen hard and banged on it and tried out best to get it to fail and were failures.

Then it was a matter of if it ain't broken... also he pointed out that if something happens to that bottom wheels part, I could just swap it out for the top one.

And he didn't even have to pay parking because I told him to use the passenger pick up zone. He was delighted. I expect he'll eat fancy tonight.

So job done and I am a happy camper.

Also Biggie just came out from under the bed and is now curled up on my lap.
