Biggie and Julio slept in this morning. I woke up to silence. Biggie came in while I was treadmilling and then Julio started his early morning singing. I fed them both. How can a kitten meow non stop WHILE eating??? His face is in the bowl, he's clearly eating and singing up a storm the whole time. Gifted.

Biggie's new thing is that he lands right in the middle of Julio's lounge. He sniffs around. Julio retreats into the whale. Biggie leaves, the lounge pops back up and Julio struts right back out to stare him down. I think it's a Getting To Know You Minuet.

Now they are resting.

But Biggie is dividing his time and attention. It's 66 degrees outside and 10 degrees cooler hotter! (doh! thanks, Robert) inside. So I have the door open in hopes the air conditioner will get a little help. There's really no way to get any kind cross breeze going in here. The heat just gets trapped. Great in winter. Not that good in summer. But it's cloudy out right now so maybe we can squeeze in an hour or two of cool out of this morning and that might help.

My screen door jumped the track. Getting it back in is kind of a two person job. Happily, Frank is coming over this morning to meet Julio and play with Biggie and I'll bet he'll help me get it back in the groove.

My friend, Frank, first met Biggie when Biggie was the size and age that Julio is today. They do not see each other often but they both love it when they do. And today was one of those days. Biggie was so glad to see Frank. He was very cute about it and stuck to Frank like glue.

I unzipped the top of Julio's lounge and let him roam around unlidded for a while. I picked him up but clearly he was more interested in being in his house. I did weigh him. He's 2.84 pounds*. (He was 2.94 pounds at the Humane Society.) And then I set him back into the lounge.

Biggie decided he wanted to see the lounge so he trotted over and stuck his head in. Frank kept a close watch as did I. Soon, however, Biggie was all the way in and nosing around. Julio was in his whale watching. I didn't get a lot of pictures because I was trying to stay ready to intervene if necessary but I did snap Julio's face... he was not really concerned.

Biggie gave everything a thorough going over. There was some nose to nose action. Biggie ate Julio's food. And then, after his House Hunters-like tour, he left. No hissing, no swatting, no stress. Just one cat checking out the crib of another cat Ya know, like they do.

And the First Meeting Drama was done. Easy peasy. Now they are both sleeping off their excitement.

Oh and before he left, Frank helped me fix the screen door. It's now working again!!

I think I'll leave the lounge unzipped for the most part. I'll zip it up when I go to sleep and if I leave the house but, clearly, they know how to behave.

*My scale weighed Julio at 45.5 oz. But my senior brain could not make that into pounds/ounces correctly. Frank kindly and patiently watched me get it wrong and then helped me get it right. But, yikes! I majored in math. It was a BA but still. There was a time when I could do arithmetic. Now I cannot even operate a calculator. Good thing I'm georgous.

Both cats woke up in the early evening for dinner and immediately slipped back into their individual comas. They just had too much fun yesterday.

Julio did watch a little of the ballgame before he conked out.

Then, right before I was ready to go to bed, he decided it was time to explore the outside world. I nipped that in the bud and put him back in his lounge and zipped it up. Tomorrow, little one.

Now it's tomorrow. And there has been action. Biggie keeps dipping into the lounge or getting all the way in. Julio's cool with it. Julio hasn't tried to get out yet today but I think we're only talking a matter of hours or less. He's a busy beaver, pushing the balls around, playing with his stick, playing in the litter, he even got his whale upside down. And then doing it all again. And chatting with Biggie when he drops by.

It's another cloudy morning which keeps the heat down so yeah! Tomorrow the high is only supposed to get to a heavenly 70. There is a real hallelujah there.

Yesterday we beat the Yankees in a game that felt like every inning was a nail biter. Today we play at 10 am with our new pitcher pitching. More nails will be bit, I'm sure.

I look at real estate sites a lot. I'm nosy and I like to see different house ideas. Rarely. I mean really rarely, do I find a house that makes me think this is a house I'd really like to live in. Yesterday I found one that is perilously close. It has two fatal flaws. Stairs. and $1.7 million. But, I do love it. I don't love it's location - a really hilly neighborhood so there's no chance I might accidentally buy it.

That kitchen is exactly my dream kitchen in nearly every detail. I love the creative storage - those shelves to the right of the oven. But, like I told Frank, mainly, I want to eat a meal cooked by the person who did the design.

And while I wrote this entry, they wore themselves out.

Right now...
