My calendar says that, once again, Summer will be ending soon or soon adjacent. In the olden days, you could count on cooler days - I mean sweater cool - starting on Labor Day. Like a freakin switch. I grew up in North Carolina where, if we were lucky, Summer ended by the first of November. So having it over in September was like a gift from God. But, now, alas, it lingers in to mid-September usually. So, we're looking at 4 more weeks. But, then 10 months or reasonable so not so bad. Anyway, it's wonderful to be able to see it from here.

This heat spell should be over by the end of the week so really NBD except I'm tired of it already.

Today's excitement won't be until this evening. The HOA board meeting will start at 6. On Zoom. I assume it will be a shit show that I will lose patience with and so will be free to watch the ballgame that starts at 6:45.

Before that, there's not much going on that I know about but the cats are taking an early nap so they could be resting up for hyjinx. I do need to break out the vacuum cleaner. I haven't run the robot because of kitty toys. But something needs to pick up all the detritus that's collected so I guess I'll be your vacuum robot today.

Oh hair update. It's growing!! It was August 6 when the clippers over clipped. Now, 9 days later, I barely need the hair sprinkles at all. And, I'm totally used to it.

I was looking for a photo and so flipping back through all my pix and found one from 2008 that I'd obviously taken just after a haircut and it was maybe a quarter inch longer than it is now. If that much. so I dug back to the LJ/DW entry from that day and discovered it was back when I went to a little Vietnamese place not far from here. She did good work and cheap. She's still there and very little, if any, has changed about her shop.

I also discovered that all the struggles I had importing LJ into DW resulted in double dipping. Every entry is duplicated. There was a time when this would bug the shit out of me. That time has passed.

Now I think I'll go take a shower.

Julio wants to get up on top of the cupboard where Biggie is so badly. Bless his tiny heart. He tried so hard a little bit ago, I thought he was going to hurt himself. He tried from this angle and from that one and from the shelf and from the printer and none of it worked. Poor little guy. I told he he would grow one day and be able to do it but he was not consoled. Now Biggie's still up there and Julio is under the day bed.

Oh and Julio is a water baby. The minute I get out of the shower, he gets in. And plays for a good, long, while. I like a cat with clean feet.

He's also eating his weight 3 times a day. I think I'll weigh him tomorrow to see how much he's gained since he was at the vet last Tuesday.

And...

The way I have my computer set up, I can see if always but I put the keyboard down when I'm not really using it.Sometimes, I just want to reload a page or switch tabs. A simple point. Today I thought, I should be able to do that from my phone. Sure enough, there's an app for that! I now can use my phone as a track pad or even as a keyboard. But the track pad is actually useful.

The air conditioner estimator's scheduler called to ask if the estimator could come tomorrow instead of Friday. You betcha!

I'm watching the new season of Never Have I Ever episodes interspersed with Ted Lasso which I'm rewatching from the beginning.

And waiting for an Amazon delivery that is now, according to the map, in the next block.

So yeah, the usual!

a minute so how about a photo update

Unless Biggie is where Julio can't go, he still follows him everywhere. And it's still hilarious.

He was in the middle of pulling all the crochet down from the pile, when he just ran out of steam.

The HOA meeting last night was just painful. I didn't even try not to be judgy. I just turned on mute and replied with heavy snark to every stupid thing that was said until it was clear that the stupid was going to go on for the whole hour. The board members and the owners all deserve each other. I think I'm glad that their running the building hasn't crumpled it to the ground.

The worst one was the husband of the board president. He was mad that no one appreciates that the board members are volunteers but I laughed out loud when he got on a rant about not being invited to join the opposition group who wrote to the board pointing out where they were going wrong. Yes, the husband of the board president expected to be invited to join the group who were pulled together to point out how his husband was fucking up.

Deliver me.

They did move one of the two projects to the reserves so that our special assessment - the amount we have to pay - is reduced by about 15%. Our building reserve fund will be basically emptied and we'll have to refill with either higher dues or... a special assessment. It's clearly a pay now and pay later situation.

$12,000 due November 1. Thankfully, I have it. Now I need for the A/C estimate to come in way lower than I thought. To be honest, whether or not I do that depends on how much I like the people who come to do the estimation. If they are nice, efficient and easy to deal with, I'll find the money.

The estimator(s) will be here at 10 and we will know.

As it happens, I have a meeting with my financial guy at 2 and he'll help me with all decisions.

Last night Julio played the part of Supreme Snuggler. I got up to pee and didn't realize he was in the bed until I got back into it and moved the blanket and woke him up. We played for a while and then he just slammed into my stomach a.nd fell asleep and then I did, too.

The two of them love Fancy Feast Petites but I hate them. They come in little trays with aluminum lids that cut my fingers when I try to open them. I hate cans but I may have to resort. Julio will pretty much eat anything and Biggie is picky but, it seems, that he does tend to love whatever Julio is eating. Yesterday they both ate like they were filling hollow legs. This morning, it seems, they are both on diets. Feeding cats is like trying to noodle out Druid magic.

I skipped the treadmill today. Just because. I may get on it later. Maybe.

I think now maybe I'll get dressed and pick up a few things and get ready for the estimator and then have more coffee.
