joyofmacs talked about the smoke they are getting from Canada. I just saw a story about it on the CBS Evening News. But we are having our own weather. Along with no lightening bugs, the Northwest never gets thunderstorms. At least not here in Seattle. Well, I don't see lightening bugs tonight be we absolutely have thunder and lightening here tonight. I love a good thunder storm and have missed them since I've lived here. Tonight's is a treat. Of course, it won't be such a treat if it cuts off my electricity. The tv just said we should continue to see waves of thunderstorms for a couple of more hours until dark. Wild.

We --- down here in Oregon --- are supposed to get some thunderstorms this evening, too. But it looks like as usual they will be over against the Cascades instead of out our way.

Pity. One of the things that Julie and I both miss are the thunderstorms they have in the midwest. [About the only things we miss from the midwest! :-) ] Even when we have them out here, they are pale shadows of a real thunderstorm.

One of the few pleasures of visiting Orlando in the summer! In my first Orlando FL thunderstorm I got soaked in 10 seconds. Later, after we dried off, we went out for dinner and watched the thunderstorms still rolling by for hours. I had never experienced rain that could put 2" of water on an angled deck and also get spray off the ground and onto a table. When it started raining at Wet & Wild everyone put all their dry stuff up on the braces of the umbrellas, afterwards the tables were all wet from spray. After that we stuck to December though.

San Francisco has had two or three thunder storms in the five years I have been here, I feel deprived

I was trying to remember if we had thunderstorms when I lived in Northern California (Morgan Hill) and couldn't. Dust, yes. Earthquakes, yes. Thunder and lightening... I guess not so much.

I spent many years in North and South Carolina where Summer evenings were often punctuated with thunder storms. I always loved them...

No, I don't think I have ever seen a firefly in 26 years in Oregon. Miss them, too.
