My right toe started feeling gout-y yesterday and last night it turned to gout rage. Gout can be really really painful - it just throbs. I'm laying there trying to sleep and it's like my whole body is a flickering neon sign saying TOE TOE TOE TOE!! I loaded up on ibuprofen and wrapped an ice pack around my foot and finally got to sleep.

It was a little better this morning and at least I can walk in crocs so I went swimming when I got home the Voltaren I ordered from Amazon yesterday was here (thank you, Amazon! really). It may be psychosomatic but it makes my foot feel better so I don't care. I'll ice it down a bunch today in hopes the stupid gout will get the message and leave!

Voltaren comes in a largeish tube with a fascinating top. Very easy to grip. Intuitive to open the first time - the lid becomes kind of a screw driver to get the little piece of plastic out. Clearly the designers knew their arthritic audience and tried - successfully - to help.

Yesterday, I ordered dinner from a place I'd never ordered delivery from before using Door Dash which I'd never used before and both of them were 10/10. The food was delicious - hot and crispy. The driver was smart and followed my instructions to the letter with no whining and was very gracious when I traded the bag for a $5 bill on top of his tip. "I really appreciate this so much!"

It was a delightful experience from beginning to end. The restaurant is only open Wednesday through Saturday but we will be doing some more dinners on those nights. I like a lot of the stuff on their menu.

Julio is no longer intrigued by the airhorn noise. BUT he's also spending less and less time fucking with the blinds so I am able to have them down and keeping the sun out a lot more now which is excellent.

I got the final semi official amount of the HOA assessment. I own .838% of the building and my part of the assessment is $20,796.40. It is due October 1. The money transfer from my investments was complete so I went ahead and told bill pay to send 'em the $. There is a meeting on the 31st to vote but the governing rules say that a majority of the ownership has to vote no. You could not get a majority of the ownership to vote on anything. So I do not expect the numbers to change. On the one hand, that's a shitload o' cash. On the other hand, my building will be fixed and safe to live in. And the value will be more solid. I'm grateful I have the money. (They have several different ways to pay if you don't lump sum including very low interest loans.)

The baseball game is at 11 am today.

I need some groceries but I don't really need/need them today. I still have half of last night's dinner to eat. Maybe I'll go tomorrow and maybe I'll even wait until Saturday. I need to go to Amazon Fresh so I can return some stuff.

There is a yarn shop kind of near where I swim. Near but not really convenient as they don't open til 11 am - long after I'm gone. BUT they are moving their shop to over by the Fancy Grocery. And, I'm hoping they will open earlier but even if not, 11 is a good time to grocery shop anyway. I just discovered that they collect knitted goods for Mary's Place (a large organization that helps women and children with safe housing). So now I've got a destination for all these hats and scarves I've been making and I can make more!

I just found out that Amazon Prime membership (at least in Canada) comes with a Door Dash membership which gives you zero delivery fee. I haven't used it yet, so I have no comment on how it works up here, but glad to hear it is a 10/10 there.

Amazon Prime members get GrubGub for free? How do you sign up for that? Thanks.

...and it's not free/free

I think just one of the fees is waived but there are plenty of others added on.

Voltaren is great stuff. The cvs-brand generic I got claims it's only for arthritis, and only to be used on a very limited number of body parts, but my doc told me to use it for de Quervain's Tensynovitis. It seems to be very helpful.

Hopefully your gout attack has already calmed down even as I type this, or at least will have done so by the time you read this comment. I've been fortunate enough to miss that particular experience, but everyone I know who has it says it's pretty awful.

I had diclofenac ointment prescribed for de Quervain's before it started being sold OTC. I get RSI from computer use on a regular basis, and the stuff just works.

How nice you found a place for all the hats and scarves. I miss all the bears you used to make.
