The Dr. Has Retired
Aug. 18th, 2023 09:12 amThe Diet Dr. Pepper that is. Turns out these things do, indeed, have an expiration date. But it's on the outside of the packaging which I always toss as soon as I get it. Except, for the two six packs I had in a cupboard.

I bought some cans yesterday and saw on the packaging that their shelf life ends in October - this coming October! The tortillas I bought yesterday have a November date. Turns out the DDP is fragile!!
I made a run to Amazon Fresh yesterday afternoon and it was soooo hot. I barely had enough breath to get from the store back to my car and that was in a covered garage. Ugh.
But, today is heaven. The thermometer on the terrace says 72 degrees right now - 10:30 am. When I left for the pool this morning it was deliciously cool AND cloudy. I had to turn on my headlights.
But this good has a short shelf life. Smoke is coming. Sunday. 100+ which is unhealthy for moi. My next Mariner game is next Friday. I hope this round of smoke is gone by then.
I went to the pool earlier today because I wanted to get home and dressed and the bed made before the A/C fix it guys got here. The pool was empty when I got there and packed when I left. Clearly there's a rush half hour between 7 and 8 but it varies. It's mostly the same people and they don't swim long so not that big a deal.
The road traffic is a bit more regular. Tuesdays-Thursdays it's heavy-adjacent but, even then half of what it was pre-pandemic.
We have amber alerts for little kids but around here it's far more common to see silver alerts for old people. Every time I see one (they are flashed on highway signs) I think 'YES! One of us made a clean getaway!!' Today's alert said the new free old person was in a van - now that's some good thinking there, dude. Enjoy!!
The A/C guys got here. Both had been here before and one of them is cat crazy and particularly loves Julio.

They found the problem and fixed it and apologized for my having it in the first place. PLUS they confirmed that the stupid remote does not even do what the manual says. I want it set so that the bedroom unit turns off during the day. Every day. The remote only does it once. You have to reset it every day. The wifi adapter that will enable me to operate it remotely is still on backorder. But, at least now I can stop trying to make the remote do what it ain't gonna do.
So now they have come and gone and the rest of the day is mine. I do need to make a run down to the dumpsters but that's about it for plans. The Mariners are in Houston so the game is at 5.
