Last night before I went to bed, I toyed with doing 2 chores... taking the trash down to the dumpster and delivering a load of teddy bears. I have a bunch of bags with handles (grocery bags) that accommodate 3 or 4 bears. So when I get 3 or 4 bears, I take them down to Jean and Mary's and hang them from the doorknob. They collect them all and take them, about once a month, I think, to the emergency intake shelter.

Somehow I've missed the last few deliveries and I now have about a dozen here. I have a giant bag but last night in trying to decide whether to do trash or teddy bears or if I could do both at the same trip, I tossed it all in the Scarlett O'Hara 'think about it tomorrow' bucket and went to bed.

This morning when I went to get a paper, there was a note at the door from Jean with a tax receipt for the last batch and a note that they were going out of town so hold on to all future bears until after the 6th of August.

We may have a crowd control issue.

But, I am for sure taking the trash down right after this entry. The ball game is at 10 a.m. this morning. I love when they play on the east coast. It feels like I have a ball game plus a whole free day. Sure beats the hell out of being on the east coast. I remember being an Atlanta Braves fan (during the years, of course, when they could not spell world series) and they would play on the west coast. Our games then would start at 10 p.m. that sucked the big one.

I note for your delectation that, according to the preliminary 2007 schedule that the Boston Globe has somehow gotten their hands on, the Mariners are once again the Red Sox' Patriots Day opponent, so you will once again have an 8:00 AM game in mid-April.

(I'm a little surprised about this -- I can't remember the last time they played the same team on Patriots Day two years in a row.)

Um. Well. Sorry about that. They seem to have sent some impostor to the mound disguised as Curt Schilling.

While I do find it a frustrating aspect of life on the East Coast that the games out there end so late (especially when it's a Red Sox game and I end up watching the whole damn thing), I don't think I'd cope too well with an 8 AM start.
