Those are the issues. Technical, Electrical and Muscle.

But, first, the dets.

They finally got here about 7. They pulled up in a huge truck and just parked in one of the two lanes of the road in front. Just in back of the 911 aid truck whose occupants went up to someone on the 5th floor.

Two guys wrestled the thing out of the back and proceeded to unbox it and attach hoses in the middle of the street while another 911 aid truck arrived.

By the time they were ready to bring it inside a third ambulance had arrived. This latter was a transport one. It was someone on the 5th floor but I never did get more details. It was quite the evening in that one lane.

They got it up here and then proceeded to get the old one out. There was one main guy and one small guy.

That's the feet of the small guy up on top.

The first problem was electrical. The old washer used a 220 volt outlet and the new one needs 110. I am sure there is a gizmo i can buy to plug into that 220 outlet that will then let me use the 110 plug. (Anybody reading this know what I need and where to find it?) Or I can hire an electrician. BUT for now, it's plugged into an extension cord plugged into an outlet nearby.

I saw that once the pedestal was installed the outlet would be obscured. So I asked about that and they ended up talking me out of the pedestal all together. And they took it away with them promising me a refund. I think I'm ok with that. It would be nice to have the drum higher but then the dispenser drawers would be too high.

But the biggie is that they couldn't get it positioned into the closet well. As it stands now it is crooked. AND the door won't close. I was so tired and stressed and over all of it, that I just told them to leave it.

What I should have done and I swore I would last time I got a washer, was to get an appliance board and have them install it on top of that. And I didn't. And that was stupid. I now have one coming tomorrow. I going to have to find some muscle to hire to get it onto the board and then positioned correctly.

If I can't get it back far enough, I'll then need to get someone to take the door off and I'll replace it with a curtain. I'm ok with that. I already actually have a curtain and tension rod that will work and look fine.

Then technical. Before they left, the guy hit the power button and then a bunch of other random buttons without knowing what he was doing and now my phone can't find the machine so I can't get it hooked to wifi. But, a quick Reddit search says I am not the only one. I tried different things but no luck and by this time I was stressed to the max.

I am a morning person and not an evening person and all this hit my limits.

Turns out, no matter what day I picked, I was likely to be the last or one of the last deliveries of the day and they knew from the jump that it would be after 6. "They plan downtown so no traffic." Smart but not good for me.

Finally, I dumped some soap in the dispenser and put a bunch of dirty clothes in the bin and hit the go button.

This morning my clothes were clean and dry.

The drum is huge and nicely lit when you open the door.

To be honest, as it is right now, not hooked to the phone, crooked, running on an extension cord, I love it.

You take dirty clothes, put them in, close the door, comeback in a couple of hours and they are clean and dry. No messing with soap or anything. It's wonderful.

I'm going to strip the bed and wash all of it and my blankets and all the rest of my dirty clothes bin. Today.

But first I'm going to spend some quality time trying to get the machine's wifi connected.

I would have been beside myself with all that shit compounded onto even more shit. I'm glad it's working (for now!), but I know -- from experience -- there is surely more shit to come. 😣

Well at least none of the parts were missing. Good luck with getting the door taken off, will you be making a curtain or just buying one ?

Where does the soap come from if you don't have to *mess with it*?

How about fabric softener? Do you use a 2 in 1 detergent/softener or is there a separate dispenser for fabric softener? is there a bleach dispenser too?

Maybe some day when they're standard, and cheaper maybe, I'll get one, but I'm not in the market right now. I'm just very curious!

I use fabric softener to reduce or eliminate static cling. I usually use dryer sheets, but I can't noodle out how those would make sense with a combo unit without needing to visit the washer to add a sheet during the dry cycle. That kind of takes away from the 'set it and forget it' aspect. So I've assumed a liquid fabric softener would fix that and that big dispenser sparks joy here.

Static cling is mostly a winter problem for us, with the dry heat we have from our radiators, but if static cling is not a big deal where you are or for you in general, I can see how this would not be a factor.

How *little* is the little guy on top of the dryer, that he was able to slither in through that skinny gap? LOL!
