Bill tested positive for COVID this morning. Based on CDC guidelines because he is old, he's encouraged to connect with a doctor and he thought that a video visit was a good starter place. So we sent to my clinic which uses MyChart and between setting up with medical info which is tedious enough, the software farted and the help line is no help. Now he has paid $185 and has no visit and no way to get one without paying another $185. Plus all of this has taken an hour and we're no closer to the goal than we were.

Physically he feels like he has a cold but not much worse. Mentally and emotionally, he wants to drop kick a bunch of programmers and politicians into the Pacific.

We did get out to a fun breakfast up on Capital Hill before he took the test.

Now he is on the phone with the billing department which can't find his $!85 to give him a refund.

I would call this a goat rodeo but that would insult goat rodeos.

I hope it treats him okay. This current strain is supposedly not so harsh, especially if you're vaccinated. Even though it's a mutant, the last vaccine still seems to be working well against it.

Pho is great for colds BTW if you're trying to think of some good meal ideas.

Hot and Sour soup is also good.

((grin))) I of course meant you (or he) could order hot and sour soup. It takes too long to make anyway. I hope all goes well for him.

Aw, suck! Can't say I'm surprised with this new super-catchy variant going around, but it's a pain all the same. At least it doesn't sound like it's hit him too hard at least. Commiserations to Bill, and fingers crossed for you that you manage to avoid it. At least the newer strains are a lot less lung-y.

You both have my sympathy.

If he paid using a credit card, he might be able to cancel the charge through them.

That's a good point. I often forget that one, though I've invoked it in the past. Not super-easy, but sometimes not terribly difficult, if requiring a bit of patience and a little persistence, maybe.

Ugh! I hope he gets through it fast and easy and you don't catch it!

This country is so f-ed up. Sorry to hear he's going through that, on top of the COVID thing (which may it please remain mild, Fates? thanks). Go, Bill's immune system!

Here's hoping you stay unscathed and that he gets better soon. Be a Potato, Bill! Rest a lot!

Oh no - sorry to hear!! I read that he's planning on suffering through but would Paxlovid be an option for him? It sounds as if he's doing better than my husband when he caught it. I hope that continues to be the case.

What a pain that technology took a dump & kept his money regarding the online appointment. I hope somehow he's able to recoup the money.
