Move-enomics
Sep. 8th, 2023 07:28 pmIt's at least a year but already my brain is downsizing. I look around the room and look for things I want to leave behind. And it's most everything. Maybe 10% of the stuff hanging on the walls and 10% of the furniture - basically the bed and the washer/dryer. And probably 10% as well of the miscellaneous stuff on the shelves and in the drawers.
I'm going back to see Pam on Monday. I will sign the waiting list agreement. And then the clock will start.
There are about 20+ different apartments. I'll pick one - maybe two different layouts and then wait for one of those to come available after next September. Once there is one, I then agree and then the move process (which takes about 90 days) begins. I may have the timeline a little wrong but she'll clear that up on Monday.
I need a designer/decorator. I want to find someone now and get them lined up and thinking. Colors but also stuff. I think I want very little of what is in this house now. And I need a realtor. There is a whole lotta staging work that needs to be done here. It's going to take lots of coats to get it back to builder white.
At some point there will be a 1-800-cometakethisshit so for the next year, unless I need space or just want to toss, I can stop culling. I can just wait for the truck to come haul it all away.
The whole of all of the move/change is growing on me quickly. It feels so freeing and luxurious that I have a year to do it in.
It's just feeling like an excellent next chapter.
Bill's ok still. Stuffy but ok. We had Subway sandwiches for dinner which were delicious. We watched the Mariners lose and now we're watching the tennis match.

Date: 2023-09-09 04:53 pm (UTC)That is EXACTLY what I was planning to do - right down to the asking Pam bit! I'm delighted to hear of your father's good experience with it all.
