My brother is still not feeling horrible but not feeling great either. I'm fine. We have tickets to a concert tonight. Patti LuPone. I'm not crushed if we don't go.

I'll be crushed to bits if we have to miss the Mariner game on Monday. So I'm just counting on that not happening.

Two weeks ago, in the afternoon, the fire alarm went off. As is my practice, I stayed right here and watched the action on the building cameras. The alarm stopped after a while and we had not burned up. Then later, I saw workmen running down the hall and then ServePro drove up. ServePro is the company locally that handles disasters - cleanup and repair.

Turns out the workers working on the roof/terrace sheared one of the sprinkler heads. Water water everywhere. The ServePro dryers were set up and operating for almost a week on the unit down the hall.

What I found out yesterday was that the water damage was shared liberally with the unit below that one - my friends' Sherry and Lee's unit. I found this out when all these boxes with their unit number were being moved out. I went to their front door and saw the air blowers and knew instantly what had happened.

In later emails, I learned the dets. Ugly. They are having to have their walls and ceiling and maybe floor and kitchen all ripped out an rebuilt. They have one temporary place to live now and then will move to another, more closer one soon. Their shit is in storage. What a mess.

And what a shame it isn't me! What a great way that would be to downsize instantly!

But, it's amazing to me how much stuff, knowing I'll be gone in a year, is instantly no longer needed. I've been waiting for 9 months for a wifi adapter for my heat pump unit. There's no sign that it will be here any time soon but I now, officially, no longer give a shit. That's $300 I no longer need to spend. And many other bits and pieces... I've done a 180 in my thinking about all my stuff. Even my sewing machines. I might keep the sewing machine but now I'm thinking nope.

My plan is to be very mindful of what things I use rarely around here and what would happen if I didn't have them to use at all.

I have a feeling that a whole lot of this journal for a while is going to be redundantly thinking out loud about getting rid of shit and moving to the land of old white people in a small white town. (At least, in one of the Timber Ridge newsletters, I saw where this year they had their own Pride Parade.)

Just now, Bill is taking a nap. This afternoon will be tennis and baseball. They are on at the exact same time but we can do one on the TV and one on the computer. Or, heck, it would be easy peasy to bring the bedroom Tv into the living room. I think I'll just do that!

Oh! I'm having a similar experience. Now that I am having increasing physical limitations & am thinking about moving, I'm finding it easy to let go of things. It feels so good.

Timber Ridge will allow the cats? I hope so.

Have you picked which type of floor plan you want? They had quite a few on their website and I wondered which one you were planning to go for.

Haha, Issaquah is where all those dudes from the Anthony's warehouse lived. The ones that loved guns and hated Obama. BUT they were super friendly.

Our building had one of those water-damage fire alarms back in February; during our one deep-freeze cold spell of the winter, a sprinkler pipe broke. Several apartments near us suffered a good deal of damage, but apparently the management was right on top of it and got the fixes done pretty quickly.

Thing is, this happened at about 2 AM and it took the better part of an hour to get the fire department in and for them to figure out how to turn the alarm off.

(Starting a couple of weeks ago, there's been some kind of water-related issue in the building at the other end of our part of the complex that seems to be taking longer to resolve.)

I had insurance pay for a nice new kitchen for me after a water leak in the bathroom thoroughly destroyed the previous. The kids were more thrilled than we at having to live in hotels for a few weeks in the interim.

The Village Theater is in downtown Issiquah. It does a phenomenal job of musical theater. I love Issiquah!
