One more round?
Jul. 31st, 2006 08:41 amOne of the benefits of owning a condo is that you do not have to get intimate with the infrastructure - mostly. When something goes hinky with the building, the management and the board take over and get it fixed. You pay through the nose but you don't have to make decisions, hire people, make sure those people do what they say, get paid, don't fuck you over, etc. I like it that way.
Our building had a major problem in the construction that had to be fixed. I never did even bother to pay attention to what it was. I paid my arm and leg. Heck I even believed them when they said that it would take 2 months. That was last October.
The fixing is what caused it to rain in my living room last year. Caused them to rip out the dry wall. Caused them to spend days and days in here fixing the problems their leaks caused. And my unit wasn't the worst by far. Finally one day - about last March, they left. Except for the stains on the outside wall that other leaks had caused, they had pretty much finished and I didn't see them again.
Every time one of the building management or work crew managers asked me, I told them about the stains. Finally a couple of months ago I decided that I didn't give a shit.
Today at 7 a.m. my doorbell rings. It's two of the workers. Here to fix. I think they are doing a half assed job already but maybe not. It could be worse.
I don't have work to do today. It might be another slow week. S'ok. Could be worse!
