Buying a clay tablet
Sep. 19th, 2023 07:48 amYesterday I ordered a book of checks. Checks like you used to use for money in the olden days. I couldn't believe it. After years of not ever needing them, now, in the space of two weeks, I've had to write 2 and I'm sure there will be a couple more needed before I'm moved and I have only 4 left. Too close for comfort so I blew $10 and got a book of 25. A lifetime supply in my case.
I was surprised there were so many different places still printing them and lots of them, not cheaply. The link that BECU sent me to wanted $25 (with shipping) for a book of 25. I hope no one is paying that. But, I suspect the offer would not be there if they weren't.
Last night I sat in on the HOA board meeting (zoom). While this board is really shockingly amazing - especially compared to others - in their compassion and energy and ability, I still found myself soooooo grateful that soon none of this would be of the slightest concern to me. Some of these residents need a good slap up the head. A few could use a center mass bullet to the brain but that's just my resentment talking.
Project Fix The Building is moving along in spite of some of the aforementioned residents. The project manager is a good one as are the vendors hired. The residents are whiny bitches. But they will soon be in my rear view.
I have more house chores to do. I want to consolidate and organize the growing collection of Stuff To Put Stuff In. And then sort and organize the stuff I am taking with me. And then consolidate the rest. The end goal is me standing there pointing: the shit here goes to Issaquah, the shit there does not. Meet you at the new place.
There is still a fair amount of furniture to empty. And shit to toss. BUT...
It is a luxury to look at the kitchen floor and not worry about that spot there or that one over there. The floor will be tossed soon anyway. Ditto with the cat hair on the day bed. The dust on the shelves and other furniture can rest in peace and gather friends until the Pre-sale cleaners come in to clear it all away.
I got the collar on Julio this morning. He was annoyed but got over it. We're friends again.
Today I'm going Issaquah to have lunch with Pam and get some more questions answered. I'd love to hear that Ethel is Resting In Peace or at least close to it but I'm sure that won't happen. Maybe I'll get a better timeline idea.
I think I'll leave here a little early and spend some time noodling around Issaquah.
But, first, I need a shower.

Date: 2023-09-19 03:53 pm (UTC)The last time that I bought checks was when I moved into this house and my address changed - which was in 2010. I bought a box of them, off walmartchecks.com for something like $12 -and still have multiple books left. A lifetime supply, indeed!
