Pam told me that as part of the entry process, I had to pass a test given by a nurse. She made out like it was no big deal and I figured blood pressure, eye scan - stuff along those lines.

Nope. They test your marbles! I had to spell backwards and subtract in my head and remember words and draw a picture. There were about a dozen hoops to hop through that tested all kinds of things pretty quickly and efficiently. I passed with a perfect score but boy did I fell unprepared!

They also need a sign off from my doctor. And, turns out, my doctor is out of town. Until mid October! That was a bit of a dance. I stopped half way home at the Mercer Island Metropolitan Market and found a shady spot in the parking lot and started making calls. I got a video appointment with a covering physician on Monday morning and meanwhile they are faxing him the form. Hopefully, it's a major NoBigDeal.

EDIT: Just got a note from Ben at Timber Ridge that another doctor went ahead and filled out the form as needed so no need for anything else!! Canceled the appointment. whew.

Once they get that signed, the deed will be totally truly done and I can start painting!

I took a lot of photos but didn't have time to do it right so I just snapped shit and popped them all into a Flickr Album.

I got the ok to bring Christian out for a real assessment any time. So better photos and detail soon.

I was thinking on the way home that maybe the smart money would be to move in minimally and live there for a bit before decisions are made. Like built ins or shelving or even furniture. Or even toaster oven. The oven currently in there is lovely and even has an 'air fry' setting! Do I even need my toaster oven? Will a small toaster do the job? heck, I might even use the dishwasher.

I've got some thinking to do. And I need to talk to Christian. But, first there is a baseball game and I have poke for dinner.

Life is sure good and I am sure one lucky lou.

Sounds like a potentially good idea to live there for a while before making decisions. I remember when I moved in here the thing I thought would do first is replace the lightshades that came with the house. 32 years later they're still here.

This place you're moving into is an "independent living" place for seniors? And if you hadn't passed the test, they'd put you on the list for their assisted living facility?

Looks awesome. The interior makes me think the place was built, or maybe renovated, around 2004. Cabinets and tile floors in the bathroom look just like my old condo and current condo.

I flew over your house today! I went from Pasco to SeaTac, and when I noticed Lumen Field, I thought wait a minute! The I saw the parking lot you mention, and then saw your building. I guess the plane was still high enough to not be a noise issue for you, as I never recall you talking about hearing planes.

Looks like such a nice place, I like that everything is so clean and in good repair. They seem to do a really good management job, which speaks well to your future living comfort and ease. How amazing that there are such options for us aging folks.

That half bath is going to be perfect for the litter box! And glad to hear you are keeping your beloved new laundry combo.

I was really surprised by the fact that there was no one out on that patio area below your apartment, or out on their balconies, as it looked to be a really beautiful day.

Had to laugh at how many photos you took of plugs and tech items - I thought 'how very Susan'. Will you be able to have high speed internet/wireless there? I assume that was a given for you.

I can't wait to see how you personalize the space.

Interestingly, Brooksby didn't require us to pass any kind of medical/cognitive tests (at least not as far as either of us can remember). One of the other places we looked at did require a clean bill of at least medical health – I forget whether you could get a note form your own doctor or whether they required you to use theirs.
