I slept like a rock and then got up at 4. The cats were actually kind of annoyed, I think. But, fine. I don't care.

My mind is packing and moving and unpacking and living a new life in all the details. This morning's consideration is dishes.

In my house now, the kitchen sink is kind of a mess. It always has dirty dishes waiting or clean dishes draining and soaps and stuff around it. BUT, it's hidden from the living room and you can't really see it unless you are standing in front of it.

In the new apartment, you can see the sink from everywhere. Having dish washing detritus cluttering the sink will drive me nuts. So I think I'll be using the dishwasher.

If I'm going to use the dishwasher, I need dishes. Right now I have a half dozen plastic ones that would probably melt in the dishwasher anyway. Also the new kitchen has enough cabinets to easily house dishes (my current kitchen really doesn't). Goodwill has exactly what I want so, before I move, there will be some shopping there.

I will really really miss my Goodwill store. Issaquah has none. Probably just as well since I don't need stuff (after dishes) but still, I'll sure miss it.

Now that I have a more crisp idea of my new place, I feel more confident in my packing up choices. Here I have a giant dumpster to throw whatever shit in I want. There, I will have a shoot whose mouth is about 2 to 2 and a half foot square. If I want to throw away stuff, it either needs to fit there or in my car (there are donation sites around town).

So, for instance, the recliners cannot go. I know I don't want to keep either one long term and no way to get rid of them without paying someone to haul. BUT the toaster oven can go. If I decide not to use it, I can donate it easily. I think I'll take it because it is a really good one and if I decide I want one, I'd hate to have to buy it again.

I've wrestled hard about all my yarn. I hate to give it up but do I have room for it? Not really. But, I'm taking it anyway. It's easy to dispose of if I change my mind later.

Today, we're back in clean up mode. I'm going to be here a few weeks yet at a minimum and I don't want to spend those weeks in a mess. So today's focus is on the living room. The rest of it will be emptied and everything will be thrown away OR put in the closet to move OR be on my move last list - alexas and routers, and cams...

If can get this room (living room) completely sorted, I'll declare victory for today.

What will be the difference in your square footage? This is so fun for me to follow - I love looking at houses and floor plans and thinking how furniture and things will fit. So many things to consider and imagine :)
