  1. Moving day - movers come get shit and set up at Timber Ridge
  2. Packing day - packers come pack up what's left
  3. Hauler day - haulers come truck everything else away
  4. Prep day - make sure hauler stuff is completely separated from mover stuff - tag/box/isolate

(TIL that making a reversing the list order in HTML is ridiculously simple - 'ol reversed'. ha) So really right now, I am 5 days away from being able to blow this pop stand with a fairly decent amount of organization.

COOL.

It will take no more than two weeks to gather the needed funds. So that means October 9. Assuming we can get painted, the w/d out and the carpet changed in the new apartment fairly quickly. BUT, that's when things get Mariner Complicated.

I have a ticket to Wild Card Game #1 which would be the 3rd or 4th of October.
Division Series Game 2 - Oct 8 or 9.
League Series Games 1 and 3 - Oct 18 or 19
World Series Games 2 and 4 - Oct 28 and 31

At their current speed, they are likely to make it maybe to the 9th, if that far.

Soooooo I'm putting odds on my moving sometime that second week of October.

The kitchen is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Thank you Past Me for throwing out all that stuff in previous purges. Good Job. You deserve a raise. All the shelves are done and half the cabinets. Two hauls down to the dumpsters.

There are odds and ends left to organize as well as the rest of the kitchen but I'm feel VERY good about being able to do this move with a minimum of pain.

I go back and forth in my head about taking my mobility scooter. Originally, I thought I'd not take it and just buy a smaller one that folds up if I need it. BUT, turns out, the small, practical, foldupable scooter is kind of in my imagination only. Yes, there are such animals but the reviews are weird and they are upwards of $1K. And they really aren't that much smaller than mine.

So, my latest thought is to take it. Buy a cover, put it out on the terrace OR in the storage area and forget that it's there until I really need it which may be never.

That's all my thinking so far. I am whipped. And starving and it's game time.

------------------

I think you've asked and I've answered BUT, go for it. Any questions? About anything? Move related or heck anything. Door is open. Ask away.

Have you read the book Remarkably Bright Creatures? I read it this past week. One of the main characters decides to move into a senior living apartment. I kept thinking how interesting it was to be reading a fictitious version of your story. And I just realized she was also talking about Timber Ridge! Not just a place like it! Weird coincidence.

Or maybe I'm misremembering but I could have sworn the name was mentioned.

What do the cats think of all the decluttering? Mine are dubious about it

Will you have a dedicated sewing space or will you have to pull out the sewing machine as needed? (I think I read in an earlier post that you're taking it.)

That cabinet looks great. I've owned or had access to a sewing machine for most of my life, and it's so much more convenient if the machine is sitting out somewhere ready to use rather than stashed away.

I thought of another one! Since you're likely to be moving in fairly soon after it's painted, are you going to get them to use a low-odour paint? I was thinking the fumes might set your lungs off otherwise.

Hello Susan,

How will you handle your meals? Are there restaurants near you at your new place?

James

Oh, that’s my *dream*. Pay a flat fee and have someone else plan and deal.

I was at Uwajimaya today, and I wondered if you would ever shop there after your move. I sometimes go to the one in Renton, but it's not nearly as good as the one in the ID... though it is less crowded.

When my nana moved out of her house, she bought a unit in a brand new senior complex. The concept was that the people buying in were still very independent, but as they aged in place, the complex would add more and more services and become more of an assisted living facility.

What actually ended up happening, is that not everyone needed the assistance at the same time. Some residents died or sold and moved elsewhere before they needed anything - and sold to younger residents. So it was very uneven and the plan never really materialized.

Timber Ridge seems like it's been around for a while, so I'm assuming they have figured out what services are available to residents? The place you are buying, has your own kitchen and laundry etc - but you've indicated they do have daily meals available and part of your monthly fee covers an amount of meals.

If you get to a point where you no longer want or are able to do things like laundry or cleaning yourself - is there access to onsite assistance for stuff like that? What about personal aides - at one point my nana had to have an aide come in every morning to help her bathe etc.

If they do offer additional "assisted living" services - is it an a la carte program where you pick and pay for what you want? Or do they have different levels of assisted living "programs" or "packages"?

Very cool! And definitely good that it's an established place and not them figuring out on the fly what services are going to be needed and how they will offer them!

I've seen presentations on either HSN or QVC of foldable scooters [both manual & electronic]. I don't recall the price but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

It sounds as if things are coming together nicely for your move.
