All better - or will be soon
Jan. 11th, 2024 03:44 pmI have not heard from the vet yet. I wonder how long it will take. Biggie's still passed out on the couch.
I went to Physical Therapy and it was fine. All is forgiven with Marlene. Carson is the head PT and he was very nice. He says my problem is nerves. The muscle is trapping the nerves. That's why icing has done nothing. Icing fixes inflammation and I got none. And my hip issue is sciatica. He has a great laugh which I heard in abundance when I asked if either was fatal. Also I suggested that my back issue, I was fairly sure, was from carrying around excess weight. He allowed as how maybe BUT "you've earned the right to do that if you want". FUCK YEAH!!
He gave me one exercise to do 15 times twice a day. He said there was a chance that 15 times might be too much. "It will feel ok while and just after and then later, you'll know you over did it." So stick to the program unless it's too much, then do less.
I can also do it in the pool, if I want. I thought that was cool. He really thought the hot tub would be best but I nixed that. I hate hot tubs.
And he did not give me any restrictions. So swimming and volleyball are still safe. Whew.
He told Marlene to set me up for twice a week. I will see him initially and then see his assistant after that. Marlene still needs to get approval from Humana. She said "I'll call you when I hear from them. NO. Wait. I'll call you Monday either way just to let you know what's going on." Very nice of her.
Then I went to Myrna's to find out about Hazel who took her broken arm for x-rays and turns out she got to trade her cast for a splint so she's a very happy camper. Myrna, however, was pissed. She had run out of checks and couldn't find a way to order more except online and she hit a road block there. So we went to her computer and ordered her new checks. She's so conscious of over-asking. I told her that she did me a huge favor by making me feel brilliant. Plus she pays in cookies!!
So all is good and fine. I've got half a poke bowl for dinner and TV to watch.
And a book to read. I have been on hold for the Amy Schnieder's book - the kindle version and it came up so I got it. The first couple of chapters are good reading.

Date: 2024-01-12 01:06 pm (UTC)Your entire experience with this was reminding me so much of the hip/leg issue I developed when I was doing Table duty at work -- and turns out it is the same issue. The massive chairs we had to sit in while at the Table forced me to sit very non-ergonomically, and my nerves in my hip were being compressed by my muscles leading to excruciating pain that physio helped manage, but the only thing that eliminated the issue was not doing Table duty. Which I stopped doing in 2019 and don't miss at all.
