I pay one lump sum every month for everything. Included in that is $400 for food. There is much to eat here. An explain and this week's menus.

Breakfast. I've actually never been to breakfast - there are regulars. Jim, who lives across the hall, is passionate about his breakfast. He says that in all the Continuing Care Retirement Communities he looked at, Timber Ridge is the only one that serves breakfast. This is the breakfast menu for Monday through Friday. You go into the one dining room and sit down and are waited on. Screenshot 2024-01-14 7.13.48 AM On Sunday's they have brunch. It is the only meal they serve on Sunday. This is in the fancy dining room. No reservations needed. Full service. Their hash browns are the best.

Monday-Saturday, you can get lunch in the same dining room as breakfast. You go in, sit down, and are handed this menu. You can also go online OR call and order from this menu for pick up. There are stations outside the dining rooms where they set out your meals all bagged up and ready for pick up. It's quite handy. Only the specials change and even those, not so much. The taco salad is heaven. The fish and chips are very good. The Reuben is fabulous. The shrimp louie is a massive disappointment. The classic monte christo is too weird to even consider. Their cole slaw is good.

For dinner, you have even more choices. In the breakfast/lunch dining room, they have a buffet. You can go through the line and eat there or take out. It's generally very meh food but you do not need a reservation or any planning. You can just wander in and eat. You can also wander in, look and decide. What's not listed are the desserts. They generally have four or five to pick from and they are all pretty awesome.

OR, you can eat in the fancy dining room. But, you have to have a reservation which is kind of weird. I think it's a vestigial holdover from COVID. You can order online or on the phone from this same menu for take out - same as lunch. Pick it up, all ready to go. Sometimes the folks up here organize an elbow dinner. We all go get our dinners and meet up here at the elbow to eat. Which is lovely.

The portions are all very generous. Hazel and John (from down the hall) generally only do lunch. Hazel gets a sandwich and eats half and John eats the other half for dinner and she makes herself a salad. The prime rib is definitely two meals and delicious. In addition to all of this, there is a Cafe. It is only open from 3-7 and has a menu that changes every month. No takeout. But, last week, I ordered and then went to my table and asked for a go box, put my dinner in it and left. So takeout-ish.

And... There is the Bistro. The Bistro opens at 11 and stays open til 8 or 9. At the Bistro there are set items but also, if you need an onion or something like that, you can get it there. The pastries are pretty decent. The sushi is hit or miss. The pizza is thumbs down. But, the Bistro can be a savior. Screenshot 2024-01-14 8.38.57 AM Screenshot 2024-01-14 8.38.57 AM

Oh and there is the bar. You can spend your $400 there, as well. If you do not spend all of your $400 you lose what's left. So at the end of the month, people with big balances are buying bottles of wine and Bistro groceries. If you use up your $400, you can still eat, you just get charged extra. It's a good system at least for me. Now I need to open my door so

they will know I'm alive and get dressed. Here's a report from the team.

Looks like a pretty extensive list of menus. My parents' condo has a bunch of menus too. I'm curious if you can get the prime rib rare (how I prefer it) and what kind of cake have they got.

I love seeing the menus and how much variety is offered. What a fantastic benefit of living there. It would be pretty hard to go hungry there!

Except for someone like me, eating keto looks to be impossible. Very carb heavy menus.

LOL, I can just imagine the bar rush at end of month when everybody's budget has extra spending power. I bet they know to stock up on the best sellers.

I'll take the salmon with a salad and baked potato.
Seriously this all looks good. Breakfast rice pudding? Uh... Yum.
