No peep from the pool yesterday so back to hoping for today. It's only been closed a week but it feels like it's been forever.

I woke up several times last night with leg pain but still it feels more like pain from PT rather than same old same old. I asked him yesterday if this situation will heal on its own given enough time and he said no but I'm not entirely sure I believe him. If he made it long term worse yesterday, I'm going to be beyond pissed. I think I'm going to chose to believe that it will heal from his session and get better without any more him.

It's not raining which almost feels weird. It's very overcast but no drips. It's also supposed to be near 60 again today. Yesterday the apartment got really hot and I could not cool it down. I was able to cool it enough for good sleep but I think today's going to be another issue. The door out to the terrace does open and with the windows, really lets the outside in and so cool this time of year but I'm not sure I trust the cats+screen equation.

Every once in a while I get a bee in my bonnet about some critical cloud situation. All of my life is stored with Google, Amazon with some backup at Microsoft. I've got nearly no paper here in the house. It's all out there living with other people. If one of those people decides to cut me off, I'm well and truly fucked.

If I had all paper and cash, it could go up in a fire or earthquake, and I would not have access to it from anywhere and it would be way harder to find individual pieces. So I'm happy with storing it in places and I think the periodic checks and worries are totally worth the effort.

Yesterday was a check the goods day. I ordered up a copy of all my Amazon data. It will take a day or two and I'll put a copy in Microsoft and Google storage and it will be instantly outdated but it's something. And I also turned on two factor authentication with Amazon.

There is nothing I can do to guarantee but ... this kind of insurance is cheap.

My brother is coming to visit at the end of February. In November I reserved one of the guest rooms here. Yesterday, the front desk called me and wanted his name and verification of his dates and something else. I was out in the elbow plus I wanted a paper trail so I asked her for the entire list of info she wanted and told her I'd send an email right away.

I came back here, looked everything up and sent the email.

In a little bit I got an email from 'reception' saying that the guest rooms were all booked up so I was SOL but they had a discount deal with the Hilton so I should reserve a room there and ask for the discount. WTF????? A phone call to the front desk fixed it all right away AND justified my paper trail obsession since I first, easily, found the email from them saying the reservation was made in November. But, you know what? I could easily sleep on this couch if push came to shove.

No big plans today but I probably should get dressed anyway.

I asked him yesterday if this situation will heal on its own given enough time and he said no but I'm not entirely sure I believe him.

He may have meant "no" in the sense that it will always be a potential issue due to the physical structure of your hip/leg. In my case, with the nerve compression, once I identified what caused it (having to sit in the horrible chairs at the Table in the legislative Chamber) and permanently stopped doing Table duty, the pain went away. But the issue is still there, i.e. something in my leg/hip will compress the nerves in certain situations. I am reminded of that when I do certain yoga poses that involve bending into more of a V-shape or holding my left leg at a sharp angle -- I'll get a twinge in my hip telling me to knock it off. So if you could identify specifically what causes/sets off the pain and avoid doing that as much as possible, then it will get better, but the possibility of recurrence will always be there since that's the way your muscles/leg/etc. is structured. If that makes sense?
