Just back from Saturday Elbow Coffee. It was not the downer fest of last week. A bit boring but pleasant enough.
Volleyball was weird. Steve is the one who is always there and does the set up or is responsible for it. I try to go early and help. You have to move the three lane lines to the side, set up the net, etc. Also Steve is one of the best players and kind of keep the game going and fun. He also spends a lot of quality time before the game hitting drills over the net to me and anyone else who comes early for practice which has been enormously helpful. Well, he announced on Thursday that he wouldn't be there today. I was amused that he asked the guys to pitch in with the set up. But, I got there first so I did it. By the time the next person arrived, it was all set up and ready to go and everyone was shocked. Which I thought was hilarious.
Several others weren't there as well so we had a scant crowd of players. And a couple left early so it was weird but fun anyway. And certainly better than no volleyball at all. Also I played in a different position and it was hard. I usually play on the far edge of the shallowest side. Because more of your body is out of the water, it is not for those who worry about staying warm. I don't mind the cold so it's fine. But today I played in the deeper area. I had to guard both sides of me and my bottom half got a much more vigorous workout. Interesting.
I did find out that one of the regular players, Will, is in his mid 60's! A child!! I thought I was the youngest but apparently not. Will is very fun to watch play. He makes some great shots but now he's decided that the pool is not right chemically so he's not going to play any more. Kids and their opinions. Sigh.
I left my suit in the spinner in the locker room so I've now been to the pool and back twice. So I think I'll take the rest of the day off. I started crocheting a flower wreath for my door so I'll be working on that and watching the rest of The Bank of Bob on Netflix.
