So frustrating. My H&R preparer doesn't know how the obscure deduction that I need works. Myrna's preparer does so I sent a note to Myrna's preparer asking for help. She responded that I cannot use the deduction without a letter. I have the fucking letter. My preparer has the fucking letter. I sent Myrna's preparer the fucking letter.

The form is simple. The letter spells out how to use it and the amounts. I don't understand what their problem is.

The rest of my return is complicated she says it's all done.

It's no wonder there are tax scafflaws.

Well, when I worked my first and only season at H&R, I was assigned a return that involved multiple state returns and a small corporation. It was way over my head and instead of sending the taxpayer to H&R's 'executive' (read: rich) branch, the manager insisted on keeping it at her storefront H&R. It sounds like having inexperienced or inept preparers is still their M.O. I imagine that you have the service where H&R will stand behind you if you get audited?

Shame on H&R.

It's been decades since I did H&R---might have been the late 80's or early 90's (before my LJ). Barely made a dime because they stuck me with the time-consuming returns at an office where turning over 1040 EZs in high volume made preparers the most money.

If you don't agree after it's been filed an amended return would need to be done. If you don't agree before it is filed, you could escalate your concerns with H&R (her manager for starters followed by escalating to the next level.)
