Brain Friday
Mar. 8th, 2024 08:23 amToday's bit ticket item is a brain baseline. They (and I'm foggy on the specifics there) are studying old peoples' brains and need baseline data. I've got some marbles left so why not donate. 10 am.
Also the 10th is approaching so I need to plan out/reconcile my food budget so that I end up at $0 on Sunday night. It's my monthly gambling game with zero luck required.
This morning it dawned on me that I am currently swimming to puzzle. I spend so many hours hunched over the puzzle table that my back is suffering but swimming fixes that. So swim = puzzle. It's a formula that is working so far.
Realtors are still calling. I am amazed at how many are cold calling before 8 am. It's 8:30 here now and I've already had 3 calls. Yeah they might be from other time zones but the fucking condo is in Seattle so it stands to reason that I probably am. Make that 4.
New TV is on my After I Sell The Condo list. I want an OLED and/or equally fabulous picture. Mine is barely OK with all the dark they are using these days. I abandoned yet another series yesterday that was just too dark to see what was going on. BUT also I need it smaller. This room is too small for my 55" TV. Now that I have Fubo for baseball, I can watch Jeopardy again. And wow. My eyes are maybe 5 feet from the TV and when they show the answer, I want to yell "Stop Yelling!!".
If my tax bill is not $17k, I might squeeze out the new TV sooner than condo sale.
Myrna came to me yesterday. "I'm going to do something probably not bright." She had an ad from one of those OTC hearing aid places aimed at seniors. She wanted to order them. $300. She never asked me for my opinion but it was implied. She showed me the details. We discussed. Worst case, she's out $300 "which I can afford - I hate to waste but I can afford". I told her that it sounded to me like her eyes were wide open and she should go for it. I said "At your age, your money should be spent on your health and your peace of mind and everything else is gravy." She has two kids and they both are retired an have plenty.
One of the things about the people around here (lots of them, anyway) is that we share the same conditions, the same background, the same history. The specifics are different but the general stuff is similar and we have a lot of the same needs - we need sounding boards, support, comfort. And we give and take as needed. Kind of like puzzle sharing.
It's not for everyone but it sure is for me.
Time to get dressed and get my brain going for the data dump!
This was last night at my feet on the sofa.
