I must just look stupid or slow. I'm so tired of people repeating everything they say to me and/or assuming that I am understanding none of it. I get it. I heard you the first time. Move Fucking On! I haven't got that many more years to go and zero to waste listening to you repeat everything a baskicllion times!

Whew.

I'm still not sure why we can't do all these eye tests at the same time but now I have to go back for more. The macular degeneration is holding its own and is no worse, so yeah. BUT, my ocular nerve walls are thin. Couldn't be my ass, now, could it?? I mean if I got to pick which part of me to be thin, ocular nerve walls would be way way way down on the list.

According to her explanation which I got to hear multiple times, this could mean either the beginnings of glaucoma OR it could mean that I have thin ocular nerve walls. IF glaucoma, it is important to treat as soon as possible. Laser or drops. If I have thin walls, we just declare victory and make a date to meet again next year.

The next test will tell. Next week. At least her office is VERY easy to get to. Very.

I hate to say it, but it must be our age. I'm 63. My lowest ranked boss (I have four above me, we call this flat hierarchies, and yes, that was sarcasm) who is 28 years younger than I am revels in explaining almost everything in great detail to me (and my colleague who is 62). Three times at least. In a row. It is so so tiring. Once he even explained menopause to us. Ooomph!

I wish I could take a quick nap while he is droning on. Or bang a head (preferably his) against the nearest wall. But he is a boss, I technically get paid to listen to his blathering, so I smile politely and nod as if I care and fervently hope he goes away soon. Senior-splaining indeed.

Can't wait for next year, when I retire and never have to listen to his rambling ever again.

I am not sure I could sit politely and listen to a man explain menopause to me, UNLESS he was my primary care physician?

EVEN if he was my boss - I would be rolling my eyes SO FUCKING HARD and making pained noises, LOL
Working from home has *definitely* shredded my thin veneer of socialization :D

Well those are VERY DIFFERENT THINGS eh? It almost makes a person want to make a note to ask their eye doctor next time I go, "are my ocular nerve walls thin or normal thickness?" I kind of feel like I should get a baseline measurement! WHO KNEW this was a thing we need to know?

Hopefully you just have thin walls (assuming that doesn't cause problems other than glaucoma?)

I've used drops in my eyes for *years* to treat/ stave off glaucoma. My cataracts were removed in '16 and I had already been using the drops (Latanaprost) for several years. They did a scan of my eyes that showed a section of my left eye that had already been damaged. I don't notice that spot - there are many, many rods in the eye. Subsequent scans show no progress of disease. There are lots of different drops they can prescribe to keep the pressure down in your eyes, so if one stings, there are others to try.
In the grand scheme of maladies, glaucoma is the least trouble to take care of - certainly better than diabetes.

someone else already said it, but it bears repeating. You are a SENIOR CITIZEN. You have suddenly become stupid, and understand nothing. Never mind that you have lived in your body for however many years old you are, you understand nothing unless is explained to you several times
