Waiting but not for rainbows
Mar. 13th, 2024 08:27 amThis was my view last evening. From my couch.

This entry will be interrupted in a few mins by my annual appointment with my primary care physician. I love that I can put on a nice top and comb my hair and be 100% ready. Instead of fighting traffic and paying for parking, I'm sipping my own coffee. This rocks.
EXCEPT... turns out it sucks.
So first of all, a few days ago, I got a message from MyChart to fill out all these forms which I did. And it was a ton of questions. I diligently answered each one. Today, I went to check in and MyChart says that the info they have is not current as of today so I have to fill out the same shit all over again.
Then I get in with my doctor and he says he can't do this physical via video. Well, then, dude, why did your office suggest it????? So now I have to go in to Seattle and the first appointment he has is in 3 months. If I go to MyChart it says he has no available appointments at all. FUCK!!!
I like my doctor. I am less in love with his practice and now I am not at all happy with any of them. I'd make the trip to Seattle except now I'm too pissed off to even consider it. I'd skip the whole thing, but I need the drugs. I asked him to refill my prescriptions so, hopefully, he'll do that for a year.
I'll find a new doctor in Issaquah except no. I go to Humana, gimme any doctor in Issaquah who is taking new patients. Several at Virginia Mason. I call. Turns out there are none taking new patients.
FUCK.
So I call the wellness center here at Timber Ridge. Top on their list of services is connecting us with medical care. She was very nice and offered up her spreadsheet of doctors who people here don't hate. She's emailing it to me. Except she called back to ask my email address and now it's been an hour and nothing. But even with the list, I'm sure none of them are taking new patients.
Fuck.
Well, so far, I'm not a fan of this day.
Biggie and Julio are watching the front door intently. Maybe a doctor taking new patients will walk through.

Date: 2024-03-14 02:16 pm (UTC)When we moved a year and a half ago, I decided to switch to a PCP in the local branch of our HMO so I could drive 10 minutes instead of 40 to go to an appointment, and the next available physical was more than a year out. (For some reason, when some abnormal kidney number showed up on one of my tests [turned out to be a false alarm as far as I can tell], he was able to see me right away, so I did get to meet him earlier than expected. Fortunately I found out that I liked him.) Recently

Date: 2024-03-16 12:33 am (UTC)My PCP just retired a few weeks ago. I'd been seeing him for 24 years. At first I thought he looked like the evil Dr. Romano in ER, but he had a much nicer personality than the fictional character. I have no idea what to do next. I know I go on Medicare in six months.
