It wasn't the worst day

I called SamTheFriend - who is my co-inheriter - and told him I talked to Steve. I think I should have started with Are You Sitting Down? He could not believe that SteveTheLawyer actually answered the phone. We had a fun conversation. He was waiting for his wife to get out of cataract surgery. 'I'm going to see how she does before I decide to do it.' I told him my worst side effect. When I got home after surgery, I discovered that my house was filthy! I think he might still be laughing.

Then I sewed all afternoon. JoAnn's sent the wrong zipper. But, Amazon is sending the right one tomorrow. I got it all done except the zipper and the pockets. I once made something similar and got the pockets in the wrong place (too high and too close to center). So now I always do them last (patch pockets, at least).

Then I did some puzzling and John, who has never puzzled with us, joined me for a bit which was lovely. We're getting to the end.

Then I picked up dinner - lobster salad. Plus Mac and cheese and some delicious cheesy potatoes. Dinner comes with all kinds of sides. It's always too much to eat so now I order for the freezer or the fridge. Tonight's Mac and cheese and potatoes both went into freezer containers. They will be delicious.

The doctor did send in a year's worth of my prescriptions so I'm good til March of 2025.

I'm looking at an evening of TV and crochet. Which suits me just fine and dandy.

This kind of reminds me of a situation that happened in Haruki Murakami's The Wind-up Bird Chronicles. The main guy in the book inherits a package from an old man he used to know. The old man's friend has the job of delivering the package to him. When they meet, he tells a long story from the past. The story has a huge impact on the main character. After the friend leaves, he opens the package and sees that there's nothing in it. It's like this situation with your cousin's death has brought you and SamTheFriend together more than anything else. If only to be friendly acquaintances.
