I just called H&R Block. No telephone tree but the woman who answered sounded like she was 12. BUT she turned it to be a freakin' efficient and professional 12 year old. With a very minimum of fuss, she looked at my account, expressed dismay at my having to wait so long and my not being contacted. She gave me the name of the team leader* BUT also said that team leader is out until Thursday.

Then she suggested she set up a phone call today with my preparer when she comes in at 2. AND she said she would bring the situation up to her manager this morning. I was impressed. I got a text confirming the phone call within minutes of hanging up.

*Her team leader turns out to be the woman who did Myrna's return and the one who for sure knows how to do the form that my preparer is hung up on so come Thursday, if nothing else, Team Leader will be getting an email from me.

I feel a little less stressed about it all.

I had planned to call SteveTheLawyer again today but decided to wait a week. Next Tuesday, is closer to the end of the month which is when he promised another distribution. And, who knows, maybe he'll contact us before then - check your skies for flying pigs.

Today is house cleaning day. And internet day. I'm going to move all the other bits to the Timber Ridge internet. Then unplug my router.

When I first moved in here, I told everyone who came in that Julio did not like people so they should not be offended if he ran when they got close. Everyone thought this was funny but Myrna heard 'challenge'. And ever after then, whenever she comes in, she softly approaches him and lets him sniff her. Over and over again. For longer and longer times. And then last night, she got a full on kitty rub going. He not only sat still for a neck rub, he let her pet him all over!! Then he rolled over and gave her his tummy!!! That last part was so shocking to me, I forgot to take a picture!

Wild.

This morning I was sitting here at this table typing this very entry and, all of a sudden I realized it was too quiet and no one was knocking anything over or jumping anywhere. I looked up and this is what I saw.

So now they have had breakfast number 2. And I'm going to get dressed.

Guinevere, our last cat, was extremely wary of people other than us (one friend who came in to feed her while we were away reported that he never actually saw her, but knew she was there because the food did in fact get eaten); but one friend who came to visit – who was a dog owner and not really a cat person generally – somehow managed to charm her, and they got on very well.
