Ingrid lives at the end of the hall.

This place is a bad version of the old telephone game even with the people who are well intentioned. Tomorrow's supposed to be sunny, goes to her son is coming to someone is coming to LOOK OUT!!! with regularity and hilarity. It's a combo of old ears that can't hear and old minds that have grown slow.

But then there is Ingrid. She is in no way well intentioned. She's a mess from the get go. This morning, she stopped Myrna and me as we were cleaning up Joan's place and demanded to know who went out on a stretcher. We said 'Joan'. We told her she fell and Ingrid went down the hall muttering. I told Myrna at the time that she was probably jealous that she didn't get to ride out on a gurney.

About an hour later, Gail and Jim (who lives across the hall) knocked on my door and when I invited them in, they said they wanted to know if I had any details about Joan. They had run into Ingrid downstairs and she told them that Joan had fallen and hit her head and there was blood everywhere.

WTF?????

About an hour after that, I was in the hallway and Ingrid came by and said 'I seem to have annoyed you somehow but I cannot imagine how.' I allowed as how she had, indeed, annoyed me and then I went inside my apartment without further comment. Ignoring Ingrid is the way to go.

Myrna talked to Joan and her son and his wife (his wife's parents also live here) came by can picked up some stuff for her. She did, in fact, break the sternum bone. Myrna pointed out that there's a lot of important stuff that the sternum protects, heart, major vessels, etc. And a break in it for a 91 year old is not good. And is also VERY painful. I think it will be a long while before she's back here.

My knitting is, indeed, back on track. The rest will be fine. It's actually a fun stitch to do.

I'm reading the weirdest book. Help Wanted by Adelle Waldman. I'm about halfway through it and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out where it is going. But the characters are so well drawn and interesting, I'm hooked.

Blood everywhere? Ingrid does like to embellish, doesn't she?

Poor Joan, that break is gonna lay her up for a while, I hope she manages to recover.

Sounds like Ingrid doesn't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

That is a beautiful stitch. Just lovely.

Oh dear, I wish the best for Joan. She is fortunate to have so many people who care about her, plus a person who turned her fall into a Poe story.

Poor Joan! OUCH!!! I've broken ribs before and that's the worst. I was cringing just reading your post. Praying for her healing!!!

That afghan is going to be beautiful. You have captured the original stitchers technique perfectly. :)
