Around the cult
May. 8th, 2024 09:51 amI only got 3 floors done but that took 40 minutes! I'll save the rest.
I took some pix.
This dude is ready to ride. He's parked right outside the elevator. Love the bucket hat.

Which brings to mind a random observation. A few people have motorized transport. A whole lotta people have walkers - the fancy kind you can sit on when you get tired. Of the 13 people on this tiny floor, 6 people use walkers all the time.
But, one thing you don't see here that I fully expected to, is oxygen. The average age is over 80. So these were smokers. I mean really most everyone here smoked cigarettes, I'm sure. COPD should be rampant. And I have yet to see a single person with a portable oxygen tank. When I said this to Joan and Myrna once, they agreed that it was very curious. They remembered one person they knew who had/has a tank they carry around. Myrna posed that there could be people who use oxygen at night. But, still, there's a lot of old people breathin' good here. I know I am.
Back to the pix. This wreath was on Betty McDougal's door. It looks like neckties but I think It maybe pocket squares. It's beautifully done and really a stunning piece.

Betty walks every wing of every floor everyday day. When I first got here she was walking with her head down and speaking to no one. Now she smiles and chats with people - she chats with me! And she'll call me out if she has not seen me at the puzzle in the elbow recently. I need to find her and interrogate about this beautiful wreath.

This is a shot from the 6th floor of the north wing. 3 is a random apartment complex - not part of Timber Ridge. 2. is the front entry way into Timber Ridge. It's not very impressive. 1 is the south wing - the actual number is over my stack. The two apartments there are on 7 and 8 and I'm on 3. 7 and 8 are floors of gynormous apartments - 1,700 and 1,800 sq feet - eat in kitchens, dining rooms, dens, etc. Fancy Dancy shit up there.
This is the elbow on the 5th floor - they are really leaning into holiday decor... Cinque de Mayo ornaments on the left over Christmas tree!

And, finally, on the 6th floor, it is clear, their shit is together. They had this lovely sign up for meetings and helpers.

They have elbow cocktails on Friday instead of elbow coffee on Saturday. Most floors have nothing, I think.
When I got back, Myrna needed help with her bed skirt and then Joan called her and we had to go measure all of her furniture. There need to be changes made... for starters they want her to get a recliner - the kind that ejects you. And they wanted height of her sofa, bed and toilet. So we got all the nums.
And, of course now the sun is gone. ha! The sun is an asshole.
