Experiment
May. 19th, 2024 10:26 amPart of my research into insurance companies has revealed that coverage for my daily inhaler (Spiriva) is $0. All of the plans I looked at show my drug costs anywhere from $5,000 - 7,000 a year. THE only checkmark Humana gets on the plus side is their COPD program where they pay every penny of my Spiriva costs for the year. So this is kind of a blow.
I'm sure there is an alternative that is covered if only partially. But, what if I don't need it any more. My breathing has been way better since I moved here. Way better. My notes show I had a couple of major coughing fits a month before I got here. I've taken a few benzonatate pills here and there when I felt a cough maybe getting bad but I've had zero sessions of terrible horrible coughing.
I thought about cutting back on Spiriva. I take 2 doses a day. I could cut back to 1. BUT, what about if I just cut it out all together? I can always go back to 1 a day or 2.
So I decided to try it. Google thinks it will take a couple of weeks to know for sure but I started yesterday so I'm thinking Memorial Day. If all is fine, I'm declaring victory and my insurance needs get way more simple.
