My group here at the cult are fascinated by my phone. They used to tease me about not ever going anywhere without it. Now they rely on it. Any sentence that starts with "Wonder..." ends with all eyes on me expecting me to pull the answer out of my phone which I do and they love it.

But, yesterday, I reached a major milestone. I converted one of them.

I got a call last night. I don't know what made me answer. I usually don't. Maybe it was the weird hour - most spam calls are in the daytime. After I said hello I heard "This is Myrna Downs calling you on my cellphone."

When we get to a store, we generally have different areas of interest so we split up. For some reason, she is pretty easy to find and she has a lot of good sense "I was keeping an eye on the checkout because I knew you'd get there eventually." Coming home we discussed Next Adventures. I gave her 3 to chose from 1. Goodwill in Seattle (she really wants that one). 2. Goodwill in Bellevue (closer and, we're told it's a good one) 3. Target.

She noted that if she had her cellphone with her it would be easier to find me. She keeps her cellphone always charged but not turned on and I wasn't at all sure she knew how to use it to make a call. It's 700 year old model but we've used it in the past for 2 factor to get into her accounts online.

Sure enough she knows how to use it just fine. "And now that we have each other's numbers, we can go anywhere!"

One old person at a time... Joan has a flip phone that she used a lot when she was in the hospital. Hazel and John and Noelle are going to be bigger nuts to crack. Jim and Jim and David all have phones with varying levels of user knowledge. Ingrid has one but she says she gets no reception. This is a gift to the rest of us. Gail and Roger will be the holdouts forever. But, we're getting there.

My tax refund finally landed. I need to send it back for estimated taxes for next year but I can wait until the fall and use it for cushion now.

My no Spiriva test is working out freakishly well. I can tell no difference. Fitbit says my oxygen and breathing levels/rates at night are right in the middle of my normal range. Plus, I keep benzonatate on hand in case of cough. One of those little beauties shuts it right down. They are $30 for a good supply (I think it's a 90 day but since I take only 1 or 2 a week...). When I went to pick up the prescription yesterday, the clerk started to ring me up for the usual $30 and then stopped and said "you have insurance, right?". Yes. "I'll be right back". She was gone a long time and when she came back they were really busy and there were a lot of people around and she rang me up again and it was $15! She just said "the price went down" ??????? OKDOKEY. And thank you.

I slept til 6:30 this morning which is kind of late for me but it was lovely. Thank you, Biggie.

I think I'll go get a swim. Nothing on tap today. They had sushi in the bistro yesterday so I snagged one. A full sushi meal there is pretty damn decent and $7. I think I'll have it for lunch today. The baseball is at 4 and we started a new puzzle yesterday. So the usual.

As the person who has to walk people who don't like and don't use their cell phones through completing necessary 2FA, thank you for your hard work on your neighbors. ;)
