In Washington state, you cannot buy a years worth of car insurance at a time. You can pay month to month or for six months. Six months will get you a bit of savings so that's what I do. Mine is due at the end of June. I got the bill today. It's pretty low because my car is worth only about $3,000, I'm old and a girl and have no accidents. $254. Up $25 from last time.

I drive maybe 1,000 miles a year, if that. And Washington state now has per mile insurance. So I investigated. Heck of a deal. The minimum would cost me $234 and comes with a sea of caveats. I looked at some other quotes and all were higher. (So, I will now be getting a wealth of insurance spam - the joys of the internet.)

I did go back to Progressive to see if I could trim my current bare bones policy and, sure enough, found that I did have a couple of things that I was not at minimum on. Flipped those switches and I'll be getting a $13 refund and my new bill is $192.

Go me! But Oh Instagram. My feed is now crammed with insurance ads promising to make me rich with savings!! A mere $39 a month!!! So, Instagram, how am I going to get rich paying $234 instead of $192? At least they've knocked the bras for giant boobs ads off the feed so that's something.

I discovered the latest Great American Bake Off on the Roku channel. Paul and Prue but with Americans. I think it's the second season. The one who will win is one of my least favorites but maybe she'll grow on me. I'm two shows in.

I switched my book reading - temporarily - from British cops to American lawyer. I'm reading the latest of Michael Stags - it's 7 in his Nate Sheppard series. It's not great literature but comforting in the same characters and I've missed them. I thought I had stopped at 5 so had 2 more but, alas, I'd already read number 6. I did see that number 8 will be out later this year.

Myrna and I finished the puzzle yesterday. It was one I got from Goodwill and it turned out to have 4 pieces missing and 1 extra piece. It was still a very good puzzle to do. This morning, I'll go break it down. I like to put the edge pieces in a bag*. And the rest in the box with a note about missing pieces or issues or 'great puzzle'. Then I'll take it to the puzzle closet. *This way if someone wants a head start, they have it and if they don't, they can dump the bag in with the rest of the pieces. But, they have a choice. I appreciate the head start, myself.

Then about noon-ish, Myrna will gather up the hallway and we'll go down to the picnic and get our food and bring it up here and eat it together. Myrna likes to set the table up fancy. BUT her dishwasher broke yesterday and the dishwasher fix it guy doesn't work weekends so I'm not sure how that's going to change things.

No big deal. The baseball game is tonight. I'm making great progress on the baby blanket. I'm well into the last 4th of it. I'd love to finish it this week. We'll see.

I also have Progressive. My rates have gone up the last 6 renewals now. Back in October, I was able to shave $27 off, but this April that was vaporized by the newest increase. Everyone is going up, no matter who you have or even with a clean driving record. It's the rising number of claims and cost of repairs. I could switch to State Farm and save $200, but I've been with Progressive since 2005. Other than rate hikes, they have not pissed me off enough (yet) to change.

I like all of the contestants. I appreciate the American version of that show because Noel's not there. I really dislike him.

Ugh, how annoying not being able to do it for 12 months. I hate getting insurance, having to do it twice a year would really irritate me
