I have a pair of red shoes that I love. So I bought a pair just like them in navy. The navy ones have always killed my feet. Squished my toes to bits. The red ones are fine. I finally decided this morning, I was going to try the navy ones one more time and then toss them if they didn't cooperate. First I changed to a thinner sock but still after an hour and a half OUCH!! So I took them off to remove the insole and toss them when I discovered that rather than the 3/4ths insole I usually use, this was a fat full insole! No wonder my toes were squished. Swapped them for three 3/4ths and Bob is now my uncle! So yeah for a new pair of shoes. (Insoles are required since my feet are pancake flat.)

This morning I took my car into my car place to fix the blinker and check the tire that I'm sure has a slow leak. I love my car place. First of all, when you walk in, everyone greets you like they have been waiting weeks just to say hi. My intake guy listened to my tire tale and suggested we do nothing. He said the leak, if it's a leak, is too slow to warrant the expense of checking. I was happy with the price point of his suggestion and agreed. He's going to text me if the fix of the blinker is more than $60. (It's a $5 light bulb change but, I'm more than happy to pay them $55 to do the deed.)

He offered me a ride home and sent me over to the very comfortable chairs to wait. Their goodie offerings were picture worthy and I only managed to snag a packet of Milanos before my driver was ready.

As I was looking into insurance, I was considering the scenarios. I have no comprehensive. My car has a value of only about $3,500. I wonder, if something happened to it, would I even replace it. Right now, it costs me about $500 a year to keep my car. Should that change, I'm not sure what I'd do.

Lots of people who live here have no car. There are transportation offerings of various kinds available. You can reserve a ride to just about anywhere. You do have to reserve in advance but they will take you. They have weekly trips to Safeway, Fred Meyers, QFC, Trader Joes. Myrna tried it for the first time this week. She got them to take her to the eye doctor in Bellevue. There was waiting. "It's not as convenient as having your own car." BUT it was fine. I told her a million times that I'd be happy to take her. The last time she said "I know but, we have this transportation and I need to learn how best to use it." Excellent point.

My house cleaner was a no show yesterday. This happened once before. I get it. Shit happens. She called in sick yesterday morning. So her boss knew she would not be at my apartment at 1:30. But, did anyone tell me? Like last time when I asked to be informed? NO. Once again I sent an email to her boss. I'm fine with missing a week. I get it. BUT TELL ME!! Don't leave me waiting for her wondering wtf. Her boss said she called and left a message but I know she did not. It's not a big thing and it pisses me off more than it should. It's a stupid hour in my day. That I spent in the elbow at the puzzle. NO BIG DEAL at all. I can't figure out why I get into such a pretzel about it.

Now I'm going to mosey on down to the front desk to pick up a package that came yesterday.

Myrna seems like a smart cookie - best to learn how to use the available options, so that if you DO need it, you know how it works!

At the moment, I cannot imagine giving up my car - but things could change in the future!

I'm like you. I'd be fine with skipping a week with the house cleaner (or whoever) but if you aren't going to show up, TELL ME.

Bob is now my uncle!

I'm trying to think if I've ever heard that phrase outside an early-20th-century-or-earlier novel.

The last service provider that told me she sent a message got feisty when I asked her to confirm what phone number she texted, and then we both realized she was texting my home landline, not the cell.

You have collision coverage but not comprehensive? That's unusual. The only reason I recommend keeping comp and collision on a policy is that will cover tow and storage fees if the car is disabled in an accident. Plus the small settlement if it's totaled. Emergency roadside usually only covers the cost of a tow. Far too many times have I had to tell customers, sorry, you don't have collision, so you really should go to the tow yard to see about moving your car, or see if they will accept it as junk in lieu of storage fees. These are often the folks with bare minimum coverage that they can afford.

Collision is when you collide with something (or something collides with you). Comprehensive is also known as 'other than collision' so all the other things that can suddenly damage your car: flying objects, hail, hitting an animal, rodents eating wires...

Give me a half day of work, and I still can't stop talking about insurance. Or it's the former teacher in me that wants to explain everything. :)
