The price of being an idiot
Jun. 5th, 2024 08:59 amA month ago, I found a deal for some fun puzzles and spent $34.49 on a website I'd never heard of and did not research enough. I kinda smelled something but just figured it was because I'm so used to Amazon having my back and never feel comfortable flying on a website that I don't know. I shudda sniffed harder.
And, a year or so ago, I consolidated a bunch of different credit cards to one.
So now, to fix this, I have to cancel that one card which sends ripples out far and wide... websites, Google pay, subscriptions of all kinds... UGHHH!!! I think I need to rethink my strategy.
The canceling is done - 8-10 days til new card and those are working days so 2 weeks. Now I am on hold with another number to beg for expedited shipping. Yeah. FedEx maybe Friday or Monday. Whew. So, until then, I have no money. Oh wait, I have a debit card. Or rather I have the number. Wonder where that card is. Oh wait, it's in my Google Pay so I'm good. Whew.
And, I do have a list of subscriptions... I think the smart money would be to have one card for recurring charges and one for one time payments. Or just use the debit card for everything. I love me some cash back but we're only talking 1 to 1.5%. And I need to quit spending anyway. So maybe debit is the way to fly.
Oh! I have a phone date tomorrow morning with the health insurance guy who is going to point me to the right plan for next year (and, tell me if I have an exception to switch now). Huge relief having that pointing right. And, by the way, Dr. Fitbit did not detect any abnormalities last night so I must be cured. BUT I did feel like crap for the past day and a half and have had some coughing so I went back to Spiriva. One hit instead of two and maybe two if one doesn't work. At least I tried and tested and know.
The sun was out full force this morning but I went swimming anyway. I figure I'd better learn to live with the glare cause it's going to be a long summer. And it was not horrible. My dark goggles help enormously. And the rest I fixed with attitude.
The bedding and bathroom rugs are in the washer which I did figure out how to turn on from my phone. Score!
Nothing else planned - just going with the flow. Although the flow, this morning, will be credit card crap cleanup.

Date: 2024-06-05 05:10 pm (UTC)I go on citicards site and click "generate virtual card number" - and it will give me a new, temporary card number that is different from my physical card number - but connects to the same account.
I used to use debit for everything - but then if it does get compromised - you don't have any protection if they clean out your account. So I moved everything to credit cards.
