I have a gynormous (well, hand sized) bruise just above my knee that is incredibly painful to the touch. But, is it black and blue so that I can show it off and get instant sympathy???? No, it is not. It's not even swollen. You can't tell there is anything wrong at all. Well if you push on it, I will scream FUUUUUCCCKKKK!! and that might give you a clue but still. Something that hurt-y deserves a visual clue.

However when I am not touching it, it's fine and it did not interfere with volleyball even a little so I guess it's not that unfair.

Today's hit parade:

House cleaner
puzzle
knitting
Ep 5 and maybe 6 of After the Flood
Mariner game.

OMG. My brother, who has had pony tail length hair for the past million years, has a hair cut appointment tomorrow. A day or two after he leaves from every time he visits me, I find at least one black pony tail band. It used to make me want to make him a bunch of butch scrunchies. I guess those days are over. Sigh.

Bruises that don't show up as bruises but hurt like SCREAMY - might be bursitis!

I had two of those - in the same spot, it sounds like - one on each knee. And it didn't hurt, until I *touched* it - which meant I would forget about them, and then do something like bump them gently against the kitchen cabinets while washing dishes - and scream.

I mentioned this to my PT one time - and she was like "oh that's bursitis" - she described it as having little pockets of fluid - bursa - and if they get traumatized then crystals can build up inside, which cause the pain. She said there is a "window" of time during which you can "fix" it by (fairly firmly) massaging your bursa to break down the crystals. But if you don't break down the crystals within a couple of months, then they become permanent.

So I dutifully massaged my bursa a few times a day - and whether or not that was the problem, my pain went away, after having lingered for a month or more!

My bursitis was caused when I fell on my knees on my hardwood floor. Never any bruises showing up, just screamy pain whenever it was touched.
