It's the arches, dammit
Jun. 17th, 2024 07:43 amI think the reason I keep falling is shoes. Until last December, I spent nearly every off duty hour barefoot. As an adult, when I left the house, I put on shoes but otherwise, not even socks. The bottoms of my feet kept me safe.
As it turns out, directly connected, I had horrible feet problems. From the skin to the core. Foot cramps woke me up at night routinely nearly all my life. In more recent years, surprise shooting pains plagued me when I walked in shoes. Callouses and problem toenails were also an issue.
When I moved here, I took advantage of the insite podiatrist. She told me that the inside issues were because my flat feet and wobbly ankles had to have support and I was never to go barefoot again. She also cleared up all the toenail and callous and skin issues. I was never much of a sandal wearer because my feet always looked gross. Now they look amazing and not a single cramp or pain in months and months and months.
But, shoes.
I know if I could shuck the shoes, at least in the house, I'd be safer. I have some silicone arches I can wear without shoes. I might try wearing them around the house.
The news is all about how the country is melting this week. If you look at the weather map for the lower 48, our little corner up here is exactly where I would move if I didn't already live here. Our high today will be 62 degrees and it's misting and beautiful out.
Tonight is an HOA meeting for the condo. I'm running out of reasons why I should give a shit. But there's no baseball tonight so I suppose I'll log on and listen.
This week there are a couple of Timber Ridge meetings I want to sit in on Wednesday and Thursday. Tomorrow, Myrna and I are going to Costco. I have prescriptions to pick up and she's loves to go walk around. The Mariners are playing on the east coast starting tomorrow which means nice, early games.
