Digging out my masks
Jun. 19th, 2024 08:55 amThe word on the street is that the nursing unit now has four COVID cases. The shortcut I take to the pool is technically (but not very closely) connected to that unit so they have their Masks Required sign up. The mask I've been using has gotten funky. I hate those 'free take one' jobs so today, I hauled down the box off the top shelf of the closet. It has all my COVID tests and masks in it. I was hoping to one day just toss that sucker into the duumpster but, alas... I pulled out some of the good masks and put the box back. The tests are likely LONG expired now but I'll hang on to them a little longer.
My swim was lovely this morning. It is such a luxury just to go whenever I want. This it was about 7:30 and there was no one there but me.
Last week I called the lawyer for my cousin's estate. He promised to release some of the funds this week after he talked to the CPA. This morning, I called again. Again he answered which surprises me and encourages me. No extraneous chit chat this time. He said he was trading calls with the CPA and expects to connect today. He promised to get back to me today via phone or email. If he doesn't, I'll call again tomorrow.
Sometimes when I'm on the hunt to buy something and do research over time, whether it's shoes or an ironing board, or something big, the process is the same. I look, I research, I compare - lather, rinse repeat, sometimes over weeks. And then I pull the trigger.
For a while after the trigger is pulled, my muscle memory keeps thinking I need to check this fact or or that price - forgetting that the decision has been made.
Kind of a weird inertia.
At some point this dude is going to release the $ and at some point - hopefully in my lifetime - he's going to settle the estate. But, I think now, I'm going to spend the rest of my days, thinking I should contact him again - should I call this time? Do we need to sue? Is it time to file a grievance with the Oklahoma State Bar? This has been going on for two years now and I think My Inertia is set for life.
Also, I can't lie, the money would come in very handy just now.
But, another condo in my building just sold. So that's encouraging. Still no word on when my realtor's unit will be finished so he can move back in and we can put mine on the market but hope springs eternal.
Today is the Food and Beverage Committee meeting. Should be interesting. The Father's Day meal got really bad reviews so I'm interested to hear what they say about it and future stuff.
I got a text from my brother's wife that he is sporting a new hip today. It's his third (or forth?) major part replacement. It would freak me the fuck out but he's good about swapping OEM parts out for new ones.
Think I'll get dressed and get going on the day.
