Get to vs. Have to

susandennisOn Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays, I get up with the alarm, feed the cats, brush my teeth and go play volleyball.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, things are different. I sleep with a sleep mask and sleep as long as I want to or Biggie lets me. Most of those mornings, I wake up grateful that I get to go swim laps and I do. But sometimes, like today, I think, ugh. I have to go swim laps this morning.
It's so weird, the difference. Most of the time, when I wake up to have to, I go anyway and am always glad I did. This morning I am not going. Just because.
I also have errands to run - returns to Costco and Amazon - that I'm not going to do today. They will wait. No big deal. I have a 10 am phone meeting interview about the inhaler program I'm on with Humana. My last one ever. They ask me how I use it and questions about my level of COPD in return for my getting them for free.
Then lunch with Hazel and John and maybe Myrna then baseball at 4.
And in between, there will be puzzleing. We are deep into the puzzle of the rescue dogs that my brother had made and sent. It is a GREAT puzzle - lots of dog hairs and discrete sections of sky and grass. Must satisfying to put together.
It is so beautiful here. The bluest skies (you've everseen ♬) and all colors of green with blue mountains in the distance. It's really amazing. A woman on the floor above just came out onto her terrace in shorts and a t-shirt and settled into a chair with her toast and coffee and across the way, a worker in the nursing unit just strolled out onto the balcony and soaked up some sun and beauty for a moment before going back inside. I am not an outside person or a poetic person but I do love the view out my window.
