I think I say this every June. And often other times during the year. If I did not live here, I'd be packing up to move here post haste. While the country is frying, here's what out next days look like. To you, this may be dreary. To me, it's heaven.

I'm taking a special swim class this afternoon at 2 so I skipped the pool this morning. But, I'm not dressed yet and it's early. I might still go and do some laps.

I started the second season of Blue Lights. It's cops in Belfast. It's a really good show but it's particularly fun for me now that I have two walking Irish wikipedia to lunch with every day. Hazel and John were born and bread in Belfast and lived there until they were in their 30's. Generally, when I watch a show or read a book set in the UK, I can get the meaning of weird words and phrases by context and don't worry about the details but now... I can get the details easily with all kinds of background and nuance. And John and Hazel love it. And so do I.

My list of things to get at Safeway is growing but nothing has reached the 'need' level yet so I will likely put that off a day or so.

I did remember to send off for my car license today. In Washington state, you must register your car every year and pay a fee. In return you get little plastic tabs to put on your license plate that show you paid up. We have no income tax in Washington so all our other taxes are pretty hefty. At one point, my license tabs were nearly $400. This year they are $97. In celebration of the cheaper price, I also ordered up a new drivers license. You can do this online. You can even do this with the enhanced drivers licenses. These are special ones that require more info like proof of citizenship or immigration status and they can serve instead of passports if you are driving into Mexico or Canada from the US. My current license has my old address on it and a couple of times recently, that's caused a bit of a hiccough so I blew $20 and ordered one with the correct address. I do so appreciate that I can do all of this right here in my jammies. Over the course of my lifetime, I've probably donated years to standing in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles in many different states.

My pool class is at 2. The baseball game is at 4. And the rest of the day is up for grabs.

I'm glad you're enjoying Blue Lights and that you have friends handy who can fill in background, I enjoyed the show too. (-: I liked The Responder too (set in Liverpool) but it's certainly bleaker.

In Ohio years ago, they used to send us stickers we put on our plate, a different color each year. (Here in the UK it's all just tracked online, no longer anything to display on the car itself.)

56 degrees. That is exactly half of how hot it got here yesterday. I can't adequately describe how jealous I am of you....
