Out, done and back
Jul. 3rd, 2024 09:43 amThis is the last cool and cloudy morning we'll see, likely, until after Labor Day so I took advantage. I had an Amazon return for the UPS store and I needed $5 from Key Bank. Got both done and was home by 9:30. The troublesome tire is triggering the tire light again. I got air in it about two weeks ago so it's a two week leak. I hope it holds until this time next week when I take the car in for fixes. I got nowhere to go between now and then so I think I'm ok. And I have an emergency tire filler in the car if it comes to that.
I needed the 5 dollar bills for tips since I used my last one to tip the tire air filler guy. I've now got plenty. Some stashed in the car and the rest with the rest of my cash which I probably won't need for forever but I like having some on hand. We are not in Venmo/Zelle land around here and people are often pickup bread, eggs, etc for one another and cash is the currency. When in Rome.
Bonny, who's not senile - I'm pretty sure she hasn't lost what she never had - cannot navigate her iPhone. We established long ago, thankfully, that I do not 'do' iPhones. But, her Alexa wouldn't work so she bought a new one and I helped her set it up. I told her to bring up the Alexa app on her phone. She went to the app store and it provided her with a web page - I was lost. But, she kept repeating this. (I should mention that she'd already told me that she tried to buy one online but "the Amazon app kept sending me to Best Buy".) Apps, Bonny, you have apps on that phone and you need to find them. Not web. Not store. Apps. OHHHHHH ok I know where those are. SAVE ME. Then we had to have the credentials for her network. The password she had was wrong. "No it isn't. It works for everything else!" Fine. We used the free Timber Ridge network and Alexa was happy as a clam. Also, of course, the old one works fine, it just had the wrong network creds. "But that's the password that works with everything so it can't be wrong!!"
Meanwhile, I do think it's amazing that so many of these old people who bitch constantly about the cost of everything don't use the free internet. They can't all be Bonnys.
Now that my errands are done, I'm good for the day. Probably there will be lunch with Hazel and John and maybe Myrna. And then and afternoon of New Tricks and then an evening of Mariners losing. Comfort zone - I haz it.
