On Tuesdays and Thursdays my alarm goes off at 5:30. This morning, when it went off, the sun coming into my bedroom was as bright as mid-day. When I went to sleep last night at 9, it was still daylight out. I got up to pee a couple of times so I know it was dark for a while. I've lived out here for more than 30 years now and I still can't get used to how long these long days are. Especially when the clouds leave for the summer.

We had a good crowd for volleyball. My elbow continues to whine a little. Not much but a little. I tried using my left arm/hand more but was only moderately successful.

Myrna's got the table all set for lunch so we'll be doing that probably mid-day. The baseball game is at 1. I may do laundry.

In other words, same old, fab here at the cult but the sun edition.

Oh, and I did get a notice from FedEx that SteveTheLawyer did actually send something that will be here Friday. Chickens, get ready to be counted.

My bedroom looks out on our backyard. There is a beautiful view of the creek and across from it is Fish and Wildlife land. I've lived here 20 years with no blinds or drapes on my bedroom window and not felt exposed. I did resent the sun being so bright through the summer months as it interrupted my sleep.

Two months ago I purchased black out shades for those windows. It has made a huge difference.

I don't know if that will work for you, but I found it worth it for the cost.

(For two shades covering a sliding glass door, the cost was $1,200. Sadly, I won't be doing the sliding glass door and the three picture windows in the living room any time soon.)
