A lovely morning and it's not yet 9
Jul. 10th, 2024 08:31 amI love a good chorus. And I especially like video of a good chorus. You can hear the voices and see the faces and it's just my cuppa. So last week I bought an online ticket to the Gala 2024 Festival (chorus con, if you will). Fabulous choruses from around the country will be singing all week plus the ticket gives you online access to the concerts after the convention. It's clearly meant for family and friends but hey, my money's good. This morning I got the link and the password. The password is a bulletproof double digit long string of letters, numbers and symbols with a couple of 0 and O's that are indistinguishable.
My plan was to fire up the browser on my TV and watch there. But getting that password in, defeated me. I spent a good 45 minutes this morning trying various methods of cut/copy/paste/typing and all failed. Then I searched all over for a Chromecast dongle and finally found one only to open up the back of the TV and see that I already had one there. DOH. So at least I can cast my PC's browser. But, wait, where'd they put the cast button??? After a way too long a search I discover they have moved it from the handy icon up top to the very bottom of the list of Sharing and then Cast. Way to dig, boys. But, anyway, it's doable. So I'm ready. But that was a busy morning in itself.
Then I got dressed and got into the car. It is going to be another scorcher but just now it's still morning cool and lovely. I went to McDonald's and saved $3 with a special I found in the app. Egg McMuffin and coffee. Then on to Key Bank to deposit a check which was way more fiddly than it should have been because their touch screen is way too touchy. But, I got it done.
The onto the car place... Living in downtown Seattle is like the spikiest of died punk hair - it's surprising, it's different, it's exciting, it's daring. Living in Issaquah is like the perfectly trimmed bob with every hair in place. It's calm and cool and pretty and the only surprise is how calm and cool and pretty it is. I loved downtown Seattle and now I love this.
I got to the car place (in between the Shell station and the old xxx Burger stand) with just enough time to enjoy my egg McMuffin. As I was doing just that my phone beeped with a text. Before I saw it, I guessed it was the car place reminding me of my appointment but no!
It was Matt from the Press Club. I sat next to her and his wife last year for the season. They were delightful and fun as they could be. They live in North Bend which is even farther from Seattle that I am but he was in Issaquah this morning...
Hey Susan, long time. This is Matt from the Press Club.
Random: were you driving a small green car this morning? I was in Issaquah and someone pulled up next to me and she looked a lot like you. Near the Shell/XXX Hamburger stand.
Hope you are enjoying your new place in Talus.
Wild! And fun.
When the car place opened, I was first in line (and there were a fair number of people behind me so I hope my car gets first into the fix it bay). The estimate is $918.00. I'm guessing it's going to end up closer to $1,500. BUT the a/c could be a bigger issue. The check in person said that they would track the leak with a dye and if it was small, it could mean that they would give it back to me for driving around and I'd have to bring it back another day. As lovely as they are, I'd really like this to be a one and done. But, we'll see.
They have a lovely coffee and snack bar but I never get to hang out there because the shuttle driver barely gives me enough time to sit in their comfy chairs before he's ready to whisk me home.
And here I R and it's still not even 9.
I got no complaints.
