Hallway Activity!!

Our hallway got our windows washed today and it was big doin's. They were wildly off schedule - they were supposed to be here between 11 and 12 and they got here about 1:30. But no big deal. They made quick work of it and MAN ALIVE, they know their window cleaning shit. Sparkling. If my windows were sliding glass doors, you'd walk right into them.

But, everyone's door was open either waiting for them or while they were cleaning and Biggie was A Cat On A Mission. He was in and out of everyone's apartment. Under Joan's bed, in Hazel's shower, all over Myrna's place. As soon as I'd get him home, he'd be out again.

Yes, I can lock the door but that's a pain in the ass for me. Then, just now, Hazel said "you need to get him a leash" LIGHTBULB!! DUH a leash! of course. So tomorrow, Amazon is bringing a harness - strap around neck connected to strap around middle with a 50 foot leash. I can tie it to the door handle and leave the door open and he can come and go as he pleases! Or take him, on the leash, down to the elbow and tie it a chair down there.

Why did I not think of this sooner???

But, all sorted now and I have very clean windows. Plus, while the screen was off, a fly flew in so Biggie and Julio have a new (probably temporary) playmate.

Biggie will either take to the harness or will flop over and refuse to move. Julio would probably just flop over and never move with a harness on. Though I have a feeling you will never take Biggie on the elevator with the harness for a walk, because I am sure he would quickly figure it out and wait for people to go up and down and go with them. Biggie I can also see discovering the stairs and running up and down them all day as well.

I also imagine with all this going on Julio either hid under the bed or was in the closet.

I'd be perfectly happy if Biggie refuses to move. The point of the harness/leash is to keep him from roaming around. I have ZERO interest in taking him on walks. I just want to make sure he does not go where he should not. Julio stays home where he should be so he does not need any restraint.

Oh, nice! My mom had a cat that would go on their back porch on an extendable leash and he loved it. I hadn't thought of it at all in your case, but it seems like worth a shot!
