My washer/dryer combo that I bought last August has really given up the drying ghost. It never, by design, dried to a crisp but now, even with extra drying, the close come out pretty wet. Further evidence is revealed when a check of the lint filter which used to be full after every load, is not empty. So last night I scheduled a service call. It's GE which, at least around here, has always provided great and easy service. And, I had no trouble setting up the call online. But, then I remembered... not too long ago, I read a tip on a sub reddit that led me to change a filter. hmmmmmm do you suppose the internet, particularly reddit, could be wrong???? I undid the change. And this morning moved my appointment to next week. I want to do at least a load or two now and see if I fixed it.

It's another cloudy morning and at 6 it was even almost still dark. The pool was all lit up and cozy. It reminded me of when I first started playing volleyball. And I got to play my old position which isn't possible when the sun is out. It was fun but, turns out, I kind of like the side I play on with my back to the sun. hmmm.

When I moved in here, I bought a little C side table (one that slides under the sofa). It is handy but ugly. I've had it for years and years and it's stained plus it had dings on the bottom where once I put wheels and then took them off plus the was just too big.

Finally, Sunday, I found a suitable replacement on Amazon. It arrived yesterday in a lot of pieces but, actually went together fairly easily even with my shitty toolset. And, turns out, I LOVE IT!!!

It makes my living room and sofa way bigger. And tidier. I'm delighted.



We made all the Red Sox fans very happy yesterday and I suspect we will give them another day of joy today. Wednesday, jwg rsc will be there and Murphy says that will be the day we win and they lose.

I've now made a teddy bear and sweater, a little girl and a little boy and an elephant in a pink sweater. The latter now lives at Myrna's but the other three are on my shelf. I plan to make more. I need to find a better way to display them but if/when I get too many for the shelf I'll just put them out in the elbow for anyone who wants.

well, it sure worked this time! that little set of allen wrench bits we bought at lowe's came in mighty handy!

Have you been keeping up with the monthly maintenance on the washer/dryer? I'm finding I need to really clean out the area where the filter goes each month with a long brush and vacuum attachment--tons of lint is getting stuck inside there and definitely makes the drying less efficient. Mine is drying great with that upkeep.

yep but I don't get much lint in there at all - ever. this is what makes me think... prob.

ok. you made me get out the long flashlight and really really looked way deep inside there. I probably scooped out 2 cups of wet lint. I just ordered a longer brush and a vacuum attachment. I think you have put me on the road to dry. GE thanks you for your service.

Phew!! Also...in the little compartment on the bottom right of the machine, sometimes gobs of wet lint get stuck up in there. From experience, if you ever detect something smelly--check way back in there with a flashlight.

hmmm I totally forgot about that bit. I think I'll leave that for the repair guy :)
