Today we got another, very lengthy, letter from Heather (both on paper and via email this time). She outlined what happened when in great detail and noted the specific failures of the alerting system. (It should have told us to stay in our apartments and then told us that all was clear.) She was not clear on who's financially responsible but she covered everything else perfectly, reasonably and carefully. There was one typo and one unexplained acronym but I noodled out the latter and forgive the former (although she needs to upgrade her software).

Bottom line, very impressive and I really appreciate it.

I also appreciate my financial advisor going against my wishes to never call me. I was stuck at lunch with Hazel and John and some idiot who would not shut up and had not one single interesting thing to say but loved the sound of his own voice. We were well finished and he wheeled his chair around to talk to the people behind us while blocking our exit and then wheeled back and started up again. I was seeing years of my life pass before my eyes when my phone rang.

It was Tyler from Ameriprise. Back when he ghosted me and pissed me off, I asked that all our dealings be via email from now on and he agreed. That was several years ago and he's been very good about it. I'm sure this is his assistant calling to set up an appointment to review my account which I do not want or need. Email will work fine, thanks and give me a paper trail to boot!

But the ring saved me. I apologized and said I'd go take call in private and left lickety split while dismissing the call. No voice mail or email yet but I really don't care.

My phone must have gotten wind of its replacement. I plug it in every night. It has been lasting until about 4 pm before it needs more charging. But, today, it's barely going to make it past 1. Fortunately, it's easy to plug it in to a fast charger and I have small external batteries ready to grab if I go somewhere but the new phone cannot get here soon enough for me!
